shelbytexan
I've got some carbon fiber mirror covers and need to install them. I called spp and was told to use black silicone to install them. If this is correct then do i spread the silicone over all the old mirror and then install or do i spread the silicone in just spots and then install. Also i have heard about using one sided 3 m tape
csm198
that stuff is strong I would just do some spots and let it set.
07-2937
spread it thinly all over then press and tape the entire cover on for 1 day wipe any squeeze out and after curing you can easily remove any additional squeeze out by rubbing a finger over it... I started the use of rtv while I worked there
Larry T
I just used the 3M tape and it worked great ... but it is up to you.
Sherri Leicht
mine were not holding with the black stuff, so i cleaned them up and used 2 sided tape and no probs.
shelbytexan
Thanks to all for the comments. I squeezed a few spots of silicone on the mirrows and installed the covers. Hope this works. I was concerned about moisture getting between the mirrow and cover and causing rust down the road but i believe the moisture will evaporate as i didn't seal the covers air tight.
