Excellent! Thanks for posting these. If anyone else has other shots, that would be great. I think I am going to pull the trigger on swapping my chromies out for silvers.

Your welcome. Personally, I prefer the silver over chrome, less glitz & more purposeful. Although, I haven't seen any 40th vista blue convertibles with the anthacite gray razors yet.

By the way, your vert is at the top of my dream car list, enjoy it!

Thanks I do too. I originally ordered it with silver, but they were backordered and would have added several weeks to the build time. Chrome was a $200 upgrade and they waived it....so I went with those. I always thought they were a little too "blingy" myself and the silver matches the stripes nicely.

Thanks for the comment...I agree, it was a dream car of mine from the moment I saw the first brochure for the 40th.

Here is my Vista Blue with the silver wheels, the rears are now widened to 11", but I do not have a nice side shot of them yet. Car is in hibernation for the Winter!

Thanks Doug! I would love to see that pic when you do get her out. Any issues with the wheel widening? What tire size did you go with? Do you mind saying who you used for this? I was thinking 10", but 11 is even better if it will work. Do you happen to know what the offset becomes after the widening? Sorry for all the questions but I dorecuate the help....this is exactly what I want to do.

The wheels were widened at Weldcraft in Detroit, they did a very nice job. I also had them finish the inside, so the weld beads have been machined off, you can see this clearly on the one photo. I purchased standard 5.5" offset wheels from Shelby and had them shipped to Weldcraft, who then sent them on to me, no problems with any of that. I went with Pirelli 305/30/20 P Zero Nero, as I wanted to stick with the Pirellis all around the car. It looks like I could go to a 315 tire of the same height without any more modifications. I did have to take the end off the brake cooling ducts, as they just touched the tire.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Doug for the info...very helpful. I was thinking about going with a 10" and 295 / 30 tire....do you think that would clear the brake ducts? I'd really like to keep those in tact. Two more questions, only if you don't mind sharing....regarding the cost...what did they charge? I am sure it was extra to clean up the inside of the wheel, but if you don't do it, you would see a large seam in the wheel behind the spokes, right?

This may help also. I have had many people look at the wheels and never notice the seam.

I believe the brake ducts would clear with a 10" wheel. I also intend to look at moving my brake ducting inwards a bit to allow me to put the ends back on, I just had no time last year to play with them. I still have traction issue's with the car, even have to watch 2nd gear still, the car is SS'd to 605 HP. So I would advise the 11" wheel since you are going to pay the same as the 10" modification. The mods were $600 total for the set, plus shipping. I believe the inside bead removal cost $100 extra.

As you can see in the other post the seam is not bad, I just preferred not to have it.

Cheers

Look's great Doug! I see that Don (gt67) used a 6" offset and you used a 5.5" offset wheel. Just wonder if that makes a difference and which offset do I have on my 40th?

Bob, If memory serves me correctly the standard wheel Shelby used was a 6'' backspace and a 24mm offset. I think a 5.5 backspace would interfere with the brake caliper. It has been a while since I did them, I could be wrong. The GT500 came with 7.125 backspace and a 45mm offset..If you can find the tire for a good price there is room for a 315/30 on a 11 wheel if you don't mind a little sidewall bulge.

As for cost I paid

Jegs 2 wheels American Racing #198s-2966 $426.97 with free shipping.

Weldcraft $539.70

Tires -easy 2 P zero nero 305/30 ZR20 99y BSW $582.80 plus 42.87 Shipping.

If you want to clean up seam it was $75.00 a wheel.

Thanks Don and Doug! This is exactly what I needed. I do want to figure out how to go as wide as possible and still retain the brake ducts though...

I think Don is correct on the backspacing, Shelby shows it as 5.94" standard on the website, my paper work on the wheels does not say anything about the backspacing, but I am sure it was 5.??" so I will defer to Don's 6" (aka 5.94"). As you can see from the pictures in my earlier post I had no issues with the 6 piston extreme brakes on the rear of the car, so nothing to worry about there.
