Gurgling?

After Googling the phenomenon a bit, I realize I'm not the only person to have experienced it, but it sounds so freakishly strange that I had to ask for some insight from the more experienced members here.

When lifting-off my foot from the accelerator after revving the engine from an idle, I hear a "gurgling" sound - almost like coffee percolating or the whoosh of water through the waste pipe when somebody upstairs flushes - or runs the shower.

Many people attribute this to being a normal phenomenon that's just part of the exhaust note, but this sound seems to be coming from just in front of the firewall on the driver's side. I tried to attribute it to something specific - blower spool-down, but there was no pressure - etc. All I could tie it to was lifting my foot off the accelerator - which told me absolutely bupkus. It either didn't occur (or I didn't notice it) during the first 1,100-or-so miles, and there's nothing unusual I can otherwise tie it to. It's in the middle of a tank of 93 gas from the same trusted vendor where I always fill-up, so I'm really at a loss.

Is this just part of the 5.4 L's charm?

I believe it is related to the pressure in the H-pipe. All 3 of my Z06s did this too. I had Corsa exhausts on mine as well, which made it even more pronounced.

I kind of like it, it saids you have something special under the hood.

If you don't like it though, I believe an X-pipe will get rid of it, as it equals out the pressure.

Madlock, go to www.fordfusion.com and read the 49 page plus lament from all the Fusion owners about the noise you describe. It is apparently a major issue with the newer Fusions (strangly, I don't have the issue on my 2010 i-4 Fusion). Ford engineers have yet to figure out what to do. I sure hope thats not the same problem as you are experiencing.

Yup, that is when i notice it too.

Me three. The only OTHER difference I've noticed is that my steering seems a lot more squirrely (as if the EPAS has a mind of its own) - but I attribute that to tire over-inflation prior to winter storage.
