Ford Racing Intake Manifold

Recommended Posts

Spoke to Jim Jr. at JDM. Doing a set of Kooks 1 5/8" long tube headers, 62mm FR throttle Body, Ford Racing Intake Manifold, FRPP Cams and a tune. He has done some cars with these parts and guarantees 360 RWHP which would probably equate to 400 at the crank. Just looking to see what some of you guys think. This project will cost about $3,500 with parts and labor.

Seems a bit high on HP gains, but who cares, that setup would be a blast! :yahoo:

I am trying to decide between the FRPP cams and the Brenspeed Detroit Rockers...I think I like the sound of the Detroit Rockers better, but have not done a performance comparison as of yet.

Keep us posted!

I was also thinking of going that route, but the Ford Racing Manifold will not fit under the strut brace from what I heard and I really like to have that brace in.I would think that Ford or maybe even Shelby could make us a Manifold to fit under the brace,Ford made one that will be on there Boss and will fit under the brace. You also might what to check out the Ford Racing Top end package@FordRacin/M-fr4-s197.htm

From what I've read 360 sounds about right with this set-up at 7500RPM and $3500 for parts and labor sounds like a hell of a deal. I'm considering the same but would add ported heads which should bring it near 400 at the wheels. The only part the concerns me is loosing some low end torque.

Obviously going with forced induction will create more power for the same coin but less complicated creates less worries.

The small amount of low end torque you will lose will be made up for substantially by the increase in hp! Can't wait to do this in the spring! Also, speak to Jim at JDM. He said ported heads don't make a big difference. He said the stock heads are fine.

^Also, this is the manifold featured on the new Boss mustang if I am not mistaken...or at least the same design. And there are plenty of aftermarket strut tower braces that will fit over the manifold. I've seen it done. You can't fit our tower brace over a whipple supercharger, but there are plenty of guys who have put a different brace over their whipple superchargers. It can be done. :salute:

I am at 340 RWHP with this setup except I have FR headers

If you use lethal motor mount you should be able to get the strut brace on. If I was doing it over and staying NA it would be the FRP intake, FRP TB, Kooks or Pypes LT's, off road mid, 4.10's, udp's, detrioit rockers cams, the c&l racer intake tube and a good Brenspeed tune. That is the route I am trying to get my uncle to go. His car is bones stock and he wants to stay NA.
