GT 500 wheels on the SGT

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Anyone in here put the stock GT 500 wheels/tires on the white 07 SGT? I know they fit, I'd just like to see if anyone has any pics of the car with the wheels mounted.

Thinking about doing this for a spare set. Would really like to see what they look like before the $ expense.

Thanks!

Not much response, eh?

If you squint just right and use a little mental Photo Shop here and there, this is pretty much what it looks like

Not thrilled with those wheels and never have been. I think they look plain and nowhere near as classy/nostalgic as the stock wheels. I've thought MANY times of changing my wheels but always come back to the stock ones. If you do swap them out, if you can, keep the stock wheels for a future owner that might want to restore the car.

Either way enjoy!

Thanks guys,

Yes indeed, not that thrilled with the GT500 wheels. No offensive, GT500 guys,

But they would make for some really good track times and not that expensive. I can't catch Warren in his 350 but maybe Sean in his golf cart... :play:

Frank, thanks for the pics. Helps a bunch on the image of the car and the wheels.

Like you Jeff, the stock wheels are perfect for the car, but a little more friction can't hurt. Of Course the stock wheels would go in storage and never leave the car.

I'm going to be different on this one, I like the GT-500 wheels / tire combination on the SGTs. They are unique while the 2010 wheels look at little common as there is only so much styling you can do with a 5 spoke wheel. Opinion and personal taste only of course. When I bought my GT-H from SAI they had installed the GT-500 wheels and I think they look much better than the gray original wheels. Ride harshness increases with the GT-500 wheels / tires though. I totally agree with saving the original wheels.

I like the look of the GT500 wheels as well, but it's not so much their finish and design then it is their visual weight and gurth they add to the SGT, or any lowered S197. I love the stock wheels as well, I just wish someone would make a set match the width, off-set, and back spacing of the GT500 wheel. I plan to acquire. Second set of GT500 wheels in the future to use for the track. They may be heavy, but they are cheap.

Thanks for posting pictures. Been wrestling with what to do for wheels. Pictures give better idea than Belle Tire and AM views of cars. Going to chrome has been my hang up so far. Really want 10" rear and capability for at least the GT500 brakes,

Certainly think your car looks good. They make you happy, you win!!

Hi Ed,

Got them from this guy.

GT500 Wheels

If you take your time there are many sets available through here and elsewhere for around $600 a set; tires, wheels, sensors.

That's what I gave for my extra track set. I have the tires for when mine are ready for replacement and used the wheels with track tires you can pick up for around $500 slightly used.

I love the look on the SGT convertible.

Because my Black SGT is in storage I will look at yours and remember that is how it should be . Black Wheels and I will be glad to see them still there in Spring. Rick

The 2010 SVT wheels used on the Bullitt. Are they 19'' or 18'' off a convertible?

I like the look of that 5 spoke, (18") will accomidate a FR Brembo up grade.

What tire and sizes are monuted on your wheels?

Thanks, Tom

So just to followup, I still like the wheels but a strange thing has happend with the Wheels.

I have taken the car to work 2 times since I put them on. This first time a couple of weeks ago and was going through the toll plaza closet to work when I started hearing a beeping sound and then saw I had a Tire pressure sensor fault.

Checked out the tires when I pulled into to work, all was fine and the fault reset itself in about 24 hours. :)

I took the car to work for the second time this morning and as I'm coming up to the toll plaza, I'm thinking to myself "this about place where I got the fault the last time through here".

I no more got under the toll plaza, Beep! Beep! Beep! TIRE PRESSURE SENOR FAILURE FAULT.

Long story short the the emitter sensor in the Toll plaza is setting off the sensor fault in my car.:headscratch:

Anyone else every seen or heard about something like this happening?

Now that is strange....Did you retrain the sensors to your car using a training tool and the correct key on, key off, step on brake pedal until the horn honks...procedure???

No I didn't. Only because there was no fault issues after I put on the new wheels and tires.

I did take it to the Ford dealership and had them do an alignment and check the sensors. They fixed the toe-out but said the sensors were fine. I may have to check it again. Need to fine my training tool again.....somewhere around here.

Thanks for the advice.
