I'm not sure if there is a topic for similar to this and for some reason I've been getting errors when I try to search but I would like to know what would you like to see Ford add to the Shelby. I'm talking about reasonable items not like IRS. I know I don't own one yet but I think heated and cooled seats would be a nice option.

As far as features heated and cooled seats are nice. I have them in my SHO and like them. However, it's not a must have for me in the Mustang.

What I'd like to see Ford do is this.

Cut ties with Shelby on product naming and go back to calling the car the Mustang Cobra. Then setup an arrangement with Shelby where you send the car to them from the factory for GT500 and GT500KR treatment.

This way it allows Ford some more creative freedom with the car and gives more value to the GT500 name.

Well, heated seats and power pasenger seat is now an option already. Painted stripes, yes, hood struts, yes, and I will add that Gary Disney now can ADD cooled seats to your existing Shelby if you are interested.

As far as whats next? Yes, A new Ford GT like platform would be AWESOME! Every manufacturer has a supercar, why not Ford?

Power recline on the driver's side, turn signals that flash three times for lane changes without having to hold the lever. 18" Mercury Marauder space save spare tire in the trunk. Heads up display, painted rocker's, and a bad ass dual clutch automatic trans as an option if we're in fairy tale land. Heck why not throw in an electronic differential and sophisticated traction control stolen from the F-430, so we can post up some amazing 2WD 0-60's like in the 3.3 range

Where did you see that heated and power seats are an option? I'm just asking b/c I haven't seen that on the 2012 order guide

Do you really need a rear camera to backup a Mustang? Really?

No, it is my 4th one and I have never backed into anything.

But of all the Mustangs I have had, GT500 is the worst at backing up since it is the biggest and the spoiler gets in the way.

A camera just seems like a nice thing to have.

The government is probably going to make them mandatory anyway.

I would love to have every option that was listed above...but if I had all that, I'd be driving a $100,000 mustang. Actually I wouldn't be driving it because I can't afford a $100,000.

The truth is, for as nice as it would be to have memory seats, a front view camera (I don't want to smash my front bumper into a nasty parking barricade), launch control, a heads up display, and everything else listed above, these things all add value to the car...a value that translates into a higher price for the car.

My wish list would be:

- Painted rear axle, it is ridiculous that this carried through into the 2010's, not sure of the story on the 2011's. :banghead:

All 2011's are painted and look exactly like this, some late 2010's had them painted but not with the finned aluminum cover.

Most of my wishes are on the expensive side, but I have a few small ones.

Remove the exterior antenna.

Better grills, maybe stainless mesh grills in the grill and hood.

Painted rocker and rear diffuser.

No top speed limiter.

Better quality shade for glass roof.

Battery in the trunk.

Better speakers.

No hood prop bar.

To have the same options like the GT has rear camera, comfort package with heated seats, and power pass seat. I would also like them to fix the traction issue and put some bigger tires on it 295's at least in the back. Telescoping wheel like a fusion has and painted stripes would be nice too. The most important a DSG automatic a must, something a lowly Fiesta has. Also more color choices and stripe color choices on the Performanc Pack cars not ever one wants red stripes. I've bought every year GT500 since 2007 but I will be skipping 2012. To think that for an extra 1300 increase for a Performance Pack GT500 they add lighted vanity mirrors they can count me out this time around. I guess its time for something else maybe an AMG C-Class they have auto's.

  • 4 weeks later...

I would like to see them put it on a diet,

They already did for 2011. After I swapped out the heavy 60lb rollers for my Racestars it brought my curb weight down to 3,660lbs which is as light as a GT. I could pull the seats and easily be in 3,5xxlbs

I want to see a new halo car from ford. It's been a while since the GT. The GT500 is basically as good as it can get on this mustang platform as far as a production car. I would love for ford to keep the gt500 around.

They don't need another one. Just bring back the GT. I'm customer #1 if they do.
