Well, got the Shelby to Appalachian Performance on Monday and they got at it ! !

Only few set backs, changed my mind on the headers an decided to go back to American Racing 1 3/4 " Long Tubes with Catted X pipe and scrap the FRPP Shorties (they are sold !)

One timing belt guide was chipped from the Black Shelby (and I did not notice ), so we had to get one (quickly) it.

I had the timing cover Jet-Hot coated and apparently it got warped, I never opened the box when it came in. We had to overnight a new timing cover today (not cheap !) and I will be talking to Jet-Hot about the cover once I get it in my hands, hopefully they will help out.

Here are some photos. not the best the camera battery was dying on me

What is missing ?

ohhh this

Pre-engraved FRRP valve cover (ughhh) notice soon to be for sale FRPP shorties

New Photos, lots of progress.

1 minor problem today, Exedy sent a 26 spline clutch plate instead of a 10 spline ( I should have looked in the box when it arrived last month) and my guys had the transmission in the air so they put the stock clutch in (ughhh) Blow By Racing is sending the correct plate and handled the exchange well. Will swap this out at some point.

Also decide to buy a 1 piece aluminum drive shaft (again) from The Driveshaft Shop here in NC and that will be in sometime next week

:lurk: waiting for the dyno numbers

Hopefully in a day or so.

The "brand new" alternator went out today (called PA Performance and hopefully will have a new one soon) and the guys put the stock one back in.

This has been a little harder to tune, I am no engine expert but something about the racing engine being a little "noiser" and knock sensors. But John (Appalachian Performance) talked with a FRPP tech today and thinks he has it worked out.

Also should have my 1 piece DDS aluminum drive shaft here by Thursday so that and the correct Exedy clutch plate ( 10 spline) can go in.

Will post the dyno sheet as soon as it is in my hands

Thanks

Andrew

Awesome Andrew!!!

John told me he got 330 RWHP without the Nitrous and he was planning on working on the Nitrous today.

Still waiting on the drive shaft, should be in tomorrow and will head out to Appalachian Performance with it (and the clutch plate) and see if I can put my hands on the dyno sheet.

Nice number! Assuming 15% drivetrain loss you are just shy of 400hp (~390hp) at the motor. I assume the motor still needs to be broken-in so I would expect a respectable improvement over that number in no time!

Drove it tonight, love the power and the sound. It needs some fine tuning, at a dead stop you have to feather the throttle to keep it from stalling, but the Hot Rod cams sound great and the wife is gonna be pissed cause it is loud. ( will post video soon)

They will get the nitrous line replaced and the other stuff (Exedy clutch and 1 piece Aluminum drive shaft) install next week.

He wants to start with a 75 shot of nitrous and then work our way up as the engine gets broken it.

I was like a kid in a candy store, so happy to drive it, forgot to turn off the TC as I did a burn out of their parking lot, so he is going to do this mod for me

Saw Grady's SGT in the parking lot wonder what he is up to ?

Forgot to pick up the dyno sheet, but will get it, when I pick up the car.

Take Care

Andrew

Just picked up the Shelby and it sounds awesome and has good power (not Whipple) but good.....367 rwhp with a 75 Zex shot (will increase shots as the engine gets broken in)

The best mod is the Traction Control Off when you start the car

The Exedy 500 clutch is sweet ( like it better than the Spec 3+)

Wanted to go all out on the way home but I dropped my radar detector taking it out of the truck and it stopped working (time for a built in Escort 9500ci)

Forgot the dyno sheet (again) but will pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday when I go get the motor and parts also will post photos and video tonight.

Take Care

Congrats Andrew!

Brenspeed up here raves about the exedy line too, sounds like a good clutch for the money for sure!

I actually drove mine today..... still some piles of snow around, but the roads are clean (mostly)and dry finally!

Great posts here, Andrew... thanks for sharing.

BTW, The Valentine 1 is a TRULY great radar detector, I LOVE mine and would never use anything else. Just my 2 cents!
