any Guidance on performance?

Evening Group. Well my wife finally took delivery of my 2011 GT500 (the non SVT), and I'm curious to know, why haven't anyone posted performance numbers of the 2011 GT500 against the 2011 SVT? I know the 0-60, 1/4 mile should be the same, but the SVT package is some serious stuff on the track. I just want to know how much of a difference around the track is it compared to the non SVT since the only tests I can find is of the 2011 against last years model or just 2011 SVT's track info or against other vehicles. Did I make a bad choice getting the non SVT????

Grats on the new ride. I want to say the difference in a non SVT and a SVT Pack 2011 in calculated handling is about .96g vs 1g

To me that isn't a huge difference and you won't feel it on the street. Now to a road course racer it's fairly significant.

I don't think you made a bad choice getting the Non SVT car. If you want better handling just get the FRPP handling pack or something similar. I'm probably biased since I'm not a huge fan of the 20s ride quality and performance.

I don't think I will be taking my car to any track anytime soon cause I love it and I want to keep the miles low on it (using it as a weekend cruiser). But I have been thinking of going to the track and before I made the decision to get the GT500, I was looking at the 2007 Jaguar XKR and 2003 Porsche 911turbo X50. And these two cars are just as powerful as the GT but I know they do very well on the track which were my intentions with the Porsche but the Jag was going to be on the track every now and again. Now, with handling being aroundd.96g verses 1g, does that have a lot to do with my gears since the base GT500 doesn't come with the 3.73 gears or is that mainly due to the SVT package?

I've noticed one many threads, and this one, that there there are "non SVT" GT500's. Please, let's set the recorde straight so nobody is embarrased when talking to someone about GT500 facts. ALL GT500's are SVT models. As of '11, an additional "Performance Package" (PP) was made available. The designation is SVTPP. I know I'm stepping on some toes here but, if you own a GT500, you might as well have your facts straight.

For the record, I have a '10 which only came with one performance package and that is Bad A$$...with no real comparison during the '10 production year.

Thanks for the update. I really had no clue. I thought there was just the GT500 and ST500 with SVT package. Oh, here's some interesting information I've come across in my November 2010 Car and Driver mag. The 2010 Aston Martin V12 Vantage is a $185,000 car and it's performance numbers are almost identical to the 2011 GT500. I'm impressed!!! And that suppose to be a sport's car. I even bet the GT500 will outperform it on the track as well.

Aston's are a different animal all around. The GT500 is really a muscle car and rather raw. The Aston is great for touring and it is very refined and easy to drive, whereas the GT500 requires much more attention and skill to drive balls out.

The 2011s with the PP come with the 3.73s to offset the use of 20s vs 19s. It's basically the same gear ratio once you factor in the wheels size differences between the two.

Exactly right. No signifigant difference in the two. The SVTPP is considerably stiffer than the stock ride. Unless you're a sucker for punishment of the spine or a driver who will be doing some considerable track time, then the standard suspension is more than competent for everyday driving needs.
