pmustang
Me again, sorry as I am in the UK and there are not many GT500s here I tend to ask questions here for a more thorough poll of answers. Car is basically stock, CAI and some SLPs on the rear, Looking to put on a smaller S/C pulley. A few questions. Will this negatively effect Gas milage? at 9 bucks a gallon its already pretty steep If I go for a fairly safe one, I think 12% is what folks have mentioned to me, will I feel the difference much? do I need to get a tune if going for a new pulley? Any brands better than others/? Many thanks for your time. Peter

When you're really getting on it, it will. Cruising milage shouldn't change much though. If I go for a fairly safe one, I think 12% is what folks have mentioned to me, will I feel the difference much? Oh, you'll feel the difference! do I need to get a tune if going for a new pulley? Absolutely Any brands better than others/? I love my 2.6" Metco pulley. A lot of others use the VMP pulley too. Many thanks for your time. Peter Do it, you'll love it! LEROY UHRIG
I have installed a 2.6 pulley cold air intake with a predetor tune and the mileage stayed the same as long as your driving the same.but - you won't !
pmustang
VMP seems to infer the tune gives better milage, I assume that pulley would erase any of that gain and more leaving a net negative hit on the gas mileage. Hmmm, I wonder what just the pulley swap (the VMP) give you in terms of HP. I used 100 UK pounds/160 US dollars of fuel last saturday at a track day, painful but very fun. Peter I have an 08 vert. it has a FRPP CAI and an SCT tuner bought from VMP. I took my car to Justine at VMP. He put on a 2.59 pulley, 66mm throttle body and an Anco twin fan heat exchanger. Then he put er on the dyno for a tune. Results were 561.64 rwhp and 558.38 tq. going home(75miles) I got 2mpg better, but I kept my foot out the blower. The increase inpower was incredible. Baseline stock was about 430 rwhp. Hope this answers your questions. ............Bill

skiph
Awaiting final confirmation from Justin and Away I go. Cheers folks for the recommendations. peter You'll be pleased. Only wish he had the 2.59 when I got the 2.65. Did not have any change in gas mileage based on two trips up the coat before, and one after. Just wish he could have had the 2.59 when I got the 2.65. Not really enough ROI to me to replace the 2.65 w/the 2.59 though. But I do believe Grabber replaced his 2.65 with the 2.59.
pmustang
Just ordered the SCT, a tune and the pulley (2.59) and idler. Have to wait til my pop can bring it over near xmas time, Won't be on the road for a while due to our horrid roads and winter but can enjoy the wait. I bought the tune but just wondering if you need it when going with the pulley? Seeing as many folks told me to get a tune for the K&N this should really wake up the car. Cheers. Nitemare
You don't need another tune, but I would ask Justine just to be sure. I ran the pulley a couple of weeks before I could get back for the dyno tune and it ran great. I also suggest you get VMP's , because of where you are, pulley puller. I've seen how it works and you won't have any problems changing it, about 10 min., you won't be sorry. I live here in sunny Florida and am only a 2hr drive from VMP, such luck. :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: .......................Bill

Peter I have installed several pulley's and tunes vmp has the best tunes I have found and if you don't get on it on the highway the fuel mileage is about 2 mpg better I like the vmp 2.59 pulley and 90 mm idler set up justin is really good to do buss. with. 428cj

pmustang
Well its about 1.24 UK pounds per liter. UK gallons are a bit larger than imperial gallons. I may be off on my calculations but about 55-60 UK pounds to fill up at 1.60 dollars per pound, its too early here to do the calculations. I lived in Orlando/Windermere Florida for about 7 years, Lovely being near all the speed shops ,salvage yards (best of the best was just outside daytona with all the cars (and more than a few classics up on blocks for easy access) and nearby race venues. Loved run whatchabrung at Bithlo drag strip, Cheapest fun around. I don't need the pulley puller as a friend bough it with his new blower and pulley from VMP. cheers. Peter .
