09KR0058
First, I'm not sure if this is even called a "skid plate". Directly under the door sill (where we're putting those sweet new sill plates), on the bottom of the car, there is a long plastic piece that covers some plumbing and what looks like an inline fuel filter. A couple of months ago, I was pulling out of a parking lot, up a hill. As I came over the hill, the bottom of the car scraped on the concrete. Only some minor scratches on the body, but that plastic skid plate got tore up pretty good. Now that I have my RaceRamps, I bought the replacement piece. Here's a shot of it: There are two bolts and two nuts that hold it on the body. The old one came off fairly easy, but I can't figure out how to get the new one on. The front piece of it (circled above) has to go in the area circled below. This picture was taken from the ground, at a slight angle, looking up: I spent a couple of hours under the car trying to get this installed, but I just can't figure out what the trick is. Hopefully, someone here has been through this before. I'd hate to have to go to the dealer with the part and the 2 nuts/2 bolts and have them charge me to put it back in. BTW, where would I get a shop manual for the car? And do you think it would cover how to do this? Thanks
09KR0058
Wow. 54 views on this message and no answers? Did I actually stump everyone here? :shades: I ordered the full Helm manuals on CD today. Hopefully I can find the answer there. Been meaning to order them anyway, so this gave me a great reason. If the manual doesn't show the procedure, I guess I'm off to the dealership with my tail between my legs.

FiaCobra
Did you place the two parts (old and new) side by side and take a good look? Perhaps you mixed the left and right sides up?

09KR0058
Thanks BlackShelby! I got my Helm manual DVD yesterday and starting pouring through it. Which manual does those scans come from? They seem to be just about the same. So, the part is actually called the "Fuel tube bundle shield". In the Helm manual, as part of the procedure, you are supposed to remove the LH front fender splash shield. I'm attaching the page from the manual for that. Once I read that, then it all made sense. It will make the install of the fuel tube bundle shield much easier, but now I have to remove the wheel, then the splash shield first. I'll also attach the appropriate pages from the Helm manual. Anyone that needs to change their inline fuel filter could use these instructions.

09KR0058
Update: It wasn't necessary to remove the tire and the entire splash shield. Just pull the two front rocker panel pin-type retainers, and the first few pin-type retainers on the front-bottom side of the rocker panel. Then you can pull the front of the rocker panel down far enough to pull the splash sheld out just enough to get the front of the fuel tube bundle shield up and into place. Ya know, I was gonna say....I slid under my car and took a look at your project and it really didn't *look* all that hard. But then again, I didn't R&R it either. Glad you figured it out, Phill
