csm198
I suggested before a wood steering wheel for the Shelby cars that would have optional horn buttons for the different cars. You could also offer carbon fiber, different shades of wood etc... Seems to me you could contract with a company already making wood wheels and just license them to make wheels of Shelbys approval. Just like in the 60's. The wheels of today leave little to be desired. Just my suggestion.
DubbsFaris
I think wood steering wheels look better if your car had wood accents. Can we get them with those little knobs attached so you can pimp your ride around the track one handed?

csm198
Wood steering wheels are available, just not from SA. Linkie.... That is true that they are available, indeed I purchased one. It looks and feels great, i fashioned it like the 67 shelby's wheel in respect to color. However that being said, It would be cool if SAI would have a Shelby Wheel produced as an option. As to DubbsFaris's comment. Many Shelby cars have come with wood wheels, Cobras, 65,66,67 GT350's and GT500's, Tigers etc... and to my recollection none of these cars had other wood accents besides the steering wheel. Shelby has already made cool oil pans, valve covers and other nice parts to dress up your ride. Here is a picture attached showing what a 67 wheel looks like. I cannot find the company who made my 07 wheel nor do I have a photo of mine at this time. It turned out great and the airbag was just transferred to my new wheel. I still have the original wheel that came with the car, but you have the option to purchase a core wheel or use your original wheel to have it wrapped in wood. jmn444
I put a wood Grant wheel in my '68, and used a walnut shifter knob too.... but I've seen the wood wheels for the s197's and don't think they suit the car personally...
