? about ordering a GT500

I have two questions

1. If I order a GT500 can I tell the dealer not to wash my vehicle? (Due to improper washing)

2. Also does the dealer need to test drive my car or can I tell them not to?

Also what else would you recommend me asking the dealer not to do or to do.

thank you

have him leave all the protective plastic et al for you to take off--tell him YOU will set the supercharger.Recognize though,if there are issues that you couldnt see,and are there after you clean the car up, he'll say you did it.Some guys ahve asked for the car to be put on a lift so they couls ee if theres any damage underneath,or if theres been any paning done for damage done in transit. For me personally,i trusted my dealer and evrything was fine--good luck

I insisted that my dealer not wash it or otherwise detail it in any way. While they were doing some paperwork, I took it across the street to get gas and then took most of the plastic off. They thought I was a little crazy, but who cares. I detailed it myself a few days later. I hate swirl marks, and having the dealer wash your car is almost a guarantee that you'll get them.

Like everyone else said.......don't ask, INSIST on them not touching it at all. Make sure they don't remove any plastic (outside OR inside), and definitely make sure they dont put the front plate/bracket on or their crappy dealer sticker/emblem. I was there when they took it off the truck down the street, and no one else ever drove it (to include filling up the gas prior to delivery). And inspect the hell out of it, especially the front splitter and wheels (which some of us had screwed up by the truck drivers).

I agree with the other comments that you can demand/request that the car not be driven or washed until you get to the dealership. I do believe that they will need to do the dealer prep drill before they can release the vehicle to you though. When inspecting the car, there is a check list posted on this site on all the things to look out for before you take delivery of your car, it helped me when I bought mine.

The only negative I had was that the car porter scrapped off the rear quarter delivery sticker that stated the car was built for me. Bummer at the time, but oh well. Good luck, and let the waiting game begin. :lurk:

And it is a waiting game. This one is almost at an end, at last!

Ordered mine July 1st, just got it Nov 1st. Dealer was excellent about my requests. I got to unwrap my present myself, and no front plate holes in the bumper either. Of course, I had to put winter tires on already but I was not about to let it sit after waiting four months. The car rocks!

Well the dealership around me has one on the show room floor, below is the link to the window sticker. The car is red which was my second option and it doesnt have a glass top which I would have like to have but not needed. I like the Grabber Blue

Those were the only two stipulations I had when I bought my car....

Do NOT put the front license plate on, and DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE put the dealer badge on the car. They were cool with both.

My reasoning was experience... I know a guy with a Grabber Blue Roush 427R that had the dealer badge taken off of his car after they put it on. They scratched the SNOT out of his trunk lid because they apparently didn't know how to remove a stinkin' double-taped badge. What a shame.

I remove dealer stickers for people all the time. All of my neighbors have had me remove them. I use a heat gun and WD-40 to remove the leftover sticker goo if there is any (old stickers leave goo).

With the badges, I use monofiliment fishing line or waxed dental floss and the heat gun.

If you DO get a badge, DO NOT let the dealer dicks take it off! Take it to a good body shop and have it done RIGHT.

Phill

theres around 4K between MSRP and invoice--i would think you can getat least 2K under MSRP, maybe even 3K considering all the cars unsold on dealers lots. Dont fall i love with thecar, there are plenty around

Ok with the price I listed above what do you think I can get the car for? Also can you use the X-Plan on a Shelby? Please break it down for me as far as the cost goes to that I don't get taken on a ride. I'm not sure if I'm going to just pick it up, leave it alone or trade in my truck for it. If I do trade in my truck, I'm selling my trailer and two practically brand new Quads (Raptor 700 & 250)

well yo can check dealer invoce data on Kelley Blue book, or Edmunds.com, but when i looked at them figure at least 4K under MSRP thats listed on the sticker.Theres alos a hold back of I think 3%,so they make 3% even if they charge you full invoice, but at MSRP theyve got like $5500 of margin. So, offer them 3K under MSRP--do some homework first, including looking at Autotrader etal on what that car is selling for at other dealers--call them and see what they want.Dont be afraid to ask--bob

ok thanks but what does bob stand for? You said don't be afraid to ask bob. So if the car is 55,330 let's say 55k you think I should be able to get it for 52K not including tax, tags, etc is this correct? Sorry for all of the questions but I would like to nail this on the head and know a lot of what I'm talking before I approach these guys to try and negotiate

When I bought my 2010 GT500 from a Ford dealer, the F&I Mgr. was pushing the extended warranty on me hard. I intended to modify my car right from the start and I didn't want to snitch myself out in order to decline a extended warranty that was going to be moot so I just declined the Ex. warranty offer with no reason given (not that you need a reason anyway).

I have heard others on this forum say that the extended warranty can't be had on a GT500 but they sure were trying real hard to get me to buy one. Maybe it's just a dealer preference....

I've also heard that you can't get a extended warranty on a KR which actually makes a *little* more sense as the KR has many different "one-off" (specific/proprietary) items on it that are very VERY expensive. I think if *I* had a company that sold extended warranties, I'd be less inclined to insure a GT500KR just because of the cost of said items (hood, wheels, splitter, mirror covers, rocker panels, any KR badged gee-gaws (wheel center caps), floor mats, etc.).

But on the other hand, I've seen people here with KR's say they have extended warranty on their cars.

R U 4 Real---my name is BOB---BTW i have an extnded warranty on my 2010 Shelby---Phil has a good idea, you can get them to throw in an extended warranty if they dont move enough on the price--id start off offering them the price you suggested--they'll laugh it off, and at that point you say you can find it for less on the Internet,, and see what they say then
