Original Hood Scoop Front Fake Rivet Size

Recommended Posts

I could have sworn it was 8/32 thread - let me dig around the garage and find them...

Thanks Sam. Figures I would get a response from a JR terrier owner. I have 2-one named-yes-SHELBY. I need to know the size to get correct tap-I am reattaching new scoop with the original "rivet" screws all around. Someone here on the forum did that also.

Actually the Jack is one of five that my sister owns! (She always seems to have enough energy to keep up with them!)

Anyway, I had a look around and can't locate those darn things, however, I did find one of the nylock nuts that was holding one and it appears to be 6/32 or Metric equivalent (two of them were held on only by threads cut into the hood). I remember when I replaced my original scoop with the Heath/Beck model, the new scoop came with larger ones (8/32). I used the "rivnut" method to attach the new scoop with the larger machine screws.

Here's a pic of the larger rivnuts installed and tap cleaning out the threads - if you look closely at the tap,(in the original larger picture), the thread size is printed on the side (8/32) so I'm about 90% certain the originals were 6/32.

And just in case you might be thinking about it, I also did this:

I will look for a 6/32 and metric equiv tap and experiment with those. The rivnut method will be my alternative. Nice job on making it functional! Thanks Sam.
