magrag
I really love my 2008 GT500, but after 12,000 miles I feel that I must do something about this clutch chatter. Chatter does not happen evey time I take off from a stop , but it does it enough that it is annoying. I am on a limited income so I must resort to something that I a little less expensive, so I was looking at Summit Racing clutch disc replacements. The Centerforce dual friction clutch kit caught my eye at $413 for PP and disc. Has anyone tried something like this to eliminate clutch chatter. I don't race my car. Thanks for any help Also, I would be doing this cluch swap on my brother's lift, do you guys think a couple of 60+ year olds could handle this job. Yes. we have mechanical skills and tools. Thanks again

Joe G
If you don't like the OEM high-dollar Ford dual cerametalic clutch, I can't see you liking a cheap-o Summit clutch. That's just asking for trouble down the road, IMO. Chatter is 90% due to trying to take off at too low RPM and/or improper clutch engagement. I got used to my 2007 pretty quick, but it was because I treated it differently than most other clutches. Didn't have a problem with chatter until it finally started to show symptoms of the TSB issue earlier this year. Until that, it was a great set up. pmustang
I could not believe the incredible chatter on mine when I got the car, I live in the UK so no warranty for anything, I put in a spec clutch and flywheel (as the whole unit was shot) and still had the chatter but a heck of alot less, After a while and using more clutch when taking off or in reverse I have all but eliminated the chatter. peter
jcthorne
Steeper rear end gears will help the chatter a bunch. When I installed 4:10s, the clutch became MUCH easier to control and use. This would be a far better way to spend $500 than throwing it at a cheap clutch that will not hold up well in this car. NONE of the single disk clutches are both streetable and last with this much torque.
ZXMustang
The 2010-2011 OEM GT500 clutch setup does NOT chatter or have any gear rollover noise at all. I had the TSB done on my 09 and it works perfect and makes none of the stock noises at all.
BAD500Chris
Get the TSB done for the 2010 clutch. Save the money for a different clutch down the line if you don't like the 2010.
me32
looks like its time for a 2010 Clutch setup
jcthorne
The 2010 OEM clutch is not the right answer if your modified or ever plan to have much more than stock HP. Simply does not hold up like the 07-09 ceramic clutch that was rated much higher torque. If its given free as a result of the TSB and your car is stock, free is good. Otherwise, not the answer. magrag
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that clutch chatter is not covered in a TSB, as it is normal with that kind of clutch. Sooooo is chatter reason for TSB clutch replacement form Ford???

Sooooo is chatter reason for TSB clutch replacement form Ford??? Clutch chatter is a driver still learning to drive a ceramic clutch. Its not a warranty issue. The TSB covers a warped flywheel that causes the clutch not to release when the pedal is pressed.

Just meant I had to drive the hell out it....Spec2 ...once I got use to it, it was fine.
me32
I'm gonna be real if you don't like it get a 2010 setup of sell the car. The spec is a pos shit don't listen to the guys that like the ss spec. They don't race or power shit so they don't know how crappy it is. If.u don't have modded power an don't race get a stock 2010-201cluch. If u race get a RXT.
1BADPNY
I am currently running approx. 545 RWHP so I am sticking with the stock clutch for now, but I do intend to go after-market when this one starts to go. Has anyone had any experience with Mcleod or Fidanza twin disc organic lined clutch kits? They claim high horsepower ratings with single disc type engagement. mds370
Congrats on the new clutch! Which flywheel did you go with and did you also change the slave cylinder? Also is there any chatter on take off? thanks, I went with the steel flywheel or track version as lethal put it. I used my stock slave cylinder. I had a little chatter on take off during break in , more so due to trying not to ride it to much. Now that I am use to it, I have no chatter. Pedal effort is very similar if not stock.
