REAL ONE
Guys: I figured I'd post a topic on this to get started. I called MustangScotty and am waiting for a ringy dingy back. But figured in the meantime I'd put a thread up on the transport issue. PaulW (my neighbor) and I are both in Central Jersey (Somerset County). I don't know where the others who were secleted are located. My thought was to get a transporter like Intercity to take a full truck load of KRs and arrange for the truck to pick up cars at a couple locations on the way to Carlisle that are most convienent to those in the group. We need to start organizing. Any suggestions? First question is how many cars can a typical Intercity transport carry?. What is the pricing? Can various pickup and drop off points be arranged to accomodate all of us? How many want to bring more then one car? If so what else do you want to bring and how many other cars do you want to bring? Lets talk.
ctann
Guys: I figured I'd post a topic on this to get started. I called MustangScotty and am waiting for a ringy dingy back. But figured in the meantime I'd put a thread up on the transport issue. I am still not sure if I am going to transport my car, or trailer her. I got a great quote for transport from Northern CA from this guy: Fred Ext 211 Transport Specialist 561-391-9949 Ext 211 www.transportservicesonline.com I have used their company twice before, and they were very reliable. If you contact them, drop my name, and perhaps they'll knock a few bucks off my quote :-) At the moment I am leaning towards picking up an enclosed trailer and driving - a mammoth roadtrip, but a lot more flexible than a transporter. While I'm over there, I was also going to try and hit the Long Island MCA show, and do a bit of touring around. Cheers, Chris.
frknfast
I am from 45 minutes n/e of buffalo in Ontario Canada. I would be interested in the transport route as well.
REAL ONE
Lets get the locations of all the KRs on a map and plan it out with a transporter(s). We need to establish the locations of the KRs that are going by transport. Step one.
SGT0767
I'm located in south-western NH so am pretty out of the way for most everyone. Depending upon what can be arranged, I might consider shipping the KR and driving down the other cars so let me know as thing progress. PaulW
Lets get the locations of all the KRs on a map and plan it out with a transporter(s). We need to establish the locations of the KRs that are going by transport. Step one. Hey Real One, Thanks for starting the ball rolling on this. I'm interested too, especially if the cost is reasonable. You know where I'm located and I would just be putting the KR on the transporter and I'll drive out in Chris' S60. Will you be putting Waxer or the Cobra on the transporter for the trip to Carlisle too? One thing we'll need to figure out is how to split up the cost if the transporter has to make a few stops at different pick up locations with some of them being farther away. I'm sure we'll come up with something that folks will be comfortable with. Thanks, Paul
REAL ONE
Zactly: Once we get all the KRs interested in the transporter located on the map we can "map" things out. and start getting quotes from diffreent transporter companies. FiaCobra
I pretty much already have a single car trailer lined up. I definitely have an "open" trailer but may have access to an enclosed trailer. I think Carlisle is a 3hr or so ride for me so it shouldn't be too bad. 67Cobra
These cars were made to be driven.....why don't you just drive ? Think of how neat it would be to see a line of KR's heading out 78 .

goldgus
I drive mine everywhere, including in NYC every once in a while. Have 16K miles and car is tight, rattle free and still a blast every time I turn the key. Blasting from light to light with the top down - there's nothing like it... CrzyHorse
Id be interested in shipping the car also. Coming from Los Angeles California it would be a ridiculous drive for me. Lets figure the costs and see what happens.
REAL ONE
Well the way it looks now it seems that if we are going to use one truck it should be coming from the West Coast and swinging north east to the east coast back to PA. I'm wondering how many KR are west of the Rockies making the trip? It may be best to have a transport for the cars west of the Rockies and then another for the ones east of the Rockies. Any thoughts???

shelbypt
You ever drive through NYC ? May not be much of a car left after that trek !! No thanks, I'll trailer mine. Come on Bro, you don't have to drive through the city!! That's a lot of fun, imagine the stories you'll tell your grandchildren. "Hey guys, I trailered my KR to carliste in 2011! You should have seen grandpa" Or the story could go like this. "Hey guys, you should have seen grandpa cruising in his KR to Carlisle with 4 other Kr's. That was an awesome sight" Plus, grandpa smoked a few Crapmaros and a Z06 on the way"
REAL ONE
Nah, we will still trailer our KRs. The stories about the smok'in the Z06s and Camaros...thats what swapping lies in bench racing stories are for.

Tim It's about ten miles so a looonnnngg walk There are quite a few bringing "transport" cars to the hotel so I'm sure you would be able to find a ride back and forth each day from one of the others
kr82
I just spoke to a friend of mine and he said if anyone is interested in transporting their cars to the event, to give him a call. Contact Bill at Motorwerks(248.668.6793). Mention the Carlisle Event for the Kr's and he will put something together for us.They transport their cars all over the countryall the time and he is a good friend . They only deal with high end and precious cars!!! The more cars, the better rates we will receive....They are open Monday-Fridays and are on E.S.T.
