Nitemare
08 GT500 Black, vert. 561.64HP-558.38tq at the rear wheels. I need to replace the stock rear tires. They are useless in 1st and 2nd gear. 285/40/18 do not cut it. Big tire sale in town, $1.00 over sticker, free mounting, and balancing. They carry Nitto's, but I am confused to what is the largest practical size I can put on stock rims, with out them bulging to much. If you answer, please give all 3 number. I've seen 305's by never seen all 3 numbers.
Seahorse
305/35-18's are a bit shorter than stock, while 305/40-18's are a bit taller - both sizes are in common use with GT500 owners.
SVTpower
buy the 305/40/18, shorter will look funny, the 40's are closer to stock.

Times and overall quarter mile times. Scotty
Alloy Snake
I have had both sizes and the 305/40/18 hook much better than the short sidewall 305/35/18.

Nitemare
how is your car used? are you looking for a street tire or a DR? No strip time. Just stop light drag racing. All I know is the stock Goodyears don't hook up in 1st./2nd. gear and I want a tire that will. Internet research keeps bring me back to the Nittos. Then your are going to want the nitto in the 305/40/18 they get good street wear and have 6/32nd of tread , if you do get caught in the rain and will last longer than most if not all other street drag radials and give you the type of street traction that you are looking for stop light to stop light and hook up much better than the 305/35/18's nittos.
