skeet
Aruba. We were there twice, once in the spring of 2003 and again in fall of 2007. The weather was nice and warm, the water was crystal clear and warm. An added bonus was during our trip in 2007, there were a lot of people there on vacation from England and the Netherlands. The European women go topless on the beaches and at the pools. After a few days I kinda got use to it.

They may not have surfing but there are many other things to do there.

If you are retired military stay on Waikki in the Hale Koa. They have a super deal going on now if you pay for your lodging up front you save an additional 20%. SGT/SC#0471
We've always liked Hawaii, coming from the West Coast, one flight, 5 hours, and done... Hawaii it is, support the US economy and I like the inexpensive 5 hour flight ! So we are thinking of hitting up the big island, Kaua'i and Moloka'i....sounds like a good combo to you Islanders? We are thinking a little less than4 weeks so does this seem like a good itenerary? We want to snorkle, see jungle, volcanos and also I want to catch a few waves....perfect. Besides they have poi! haha...I remember it being purplish as I went to HI when I was 17. Thanks for the input everyone...always assured of some enlightened answers on TS. So unless it's really important for you to see an active volcano, I would skip it and replace it with Maui instead. Kauai and Molokai are both beatutiful, but Molokai is considered a "ranch" island so do expect much action after dark. If you really are dead-set to see Kilauea, then do yourself a favor and take a helicopter flight over one of the active caldera's before you take the hiking tour of Volcano National Park. Personally, I would do Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. You can visit Pearl Harbor, see the north shore, and many other activities on Oahu, surf, relax, and party on Maui, and finish your vacation in Kauai which is the only island in the chain that has navigable rivers on it. On Kauai, you can head over to Princeville and see the breathtaking Hanalei valley which was the inspiration for the song "Puff the Magic Dragon", and it's also where you can take a Kayak down the Hanalei River. Just my experienced opinion. Hanalei valley on Kauai.

NordicShelby
AAhhhh second thoughts abound....looking ...may want a warmer water temp... Well then you might want to try Lake Superior in Duluth MN then you might think Hawaii's waters are warm. I liked the suggestion about Belize. Son of GT
AAhhhh second thoughts abound....looking ...may want a warmer water temp... Then I suggest trying the island of St Martin (Sint Maartin) that's located in the northeast Caribbean. http://www.st-maarten.com/ And if you do go there, be sure to hang out and have a drink at the Sunset Bar that's located at the end of the runway. And no, that's not an optical illusion, the jet is really that low...
