pmustang
I am doing a track day shortly and having just put on new rear tyres on my car I'd rather not tear the hell out of them. i can get standard mustang wheels fairly cheaply and although I know the fronts won't go on due to the big brakes are the rears on the Shelby any different from a standard GT? I would like to at least save my rears and put on the spare rims if I can find a set in time. Regards: Peter
ZXMustang
Stock 05+ GT wheels will fit no problem, but they are only 18x9's. The stock shelby wheels are 18x9.5, so you will loose a little of your contact patch. Just compensate with wider drag radials like something 295 or 305 wide. I know for a fact that a 305 wide tire will fit on the 18x9 wheel.
pmustang
Thanks for that, its not a 100% legit track day with timings and full on racing, its a 2.5 mile track on an old air force base tarmac. Got a 1 mile plus straight and some corners and small straights. Really just looking to save my tires rather than get the best times. Cheers for the reply. That will be amazing. I hope you have upgraded your brake fluid, lines, and pads...
