Shelby.GT500
Anyone have this problem? You can also see the rubber insert on the tail light bent because of the alignment. It is just minor issue, not really noticable and I can probably live with it. Question is, will it be an easy fix? Should I let the dealer do it? It is just the passenger side. Driver side fit flush. I had a fitment problem around the rear portion of the bumper directly to the side of the passenger tail light. This picture was taken from right above the spoiler looking straight down the back of the passenger side of the rear of the car. You can see that the lower part of the bumber sticks out a little over 1/8"..I took it in and they had it for a day and were able to reduce the fitment problem but did not completely get it right. I think that the problem has gotten a bit worese over the past 2-3 months - almost returning to the original problem. The body guy told me that the fitting of the 2 pieces is like 2 Cs hooked to each other ... whatever...I might take it back.
Shelby.GT500
Blackonblack, is yours the same location as mine? From what I can make out of your pics, it looks exactly where my alignment problem is.
Ash1977
I would get the dealer to fix it. I bought a early 2011 Shelby and the trunk was not aligned and I had a noise coming from the back bumper. I had the dealer fix them. The noise was coming from the plastic of the bumper rubbing against the metal. It took two times to the dealer to fix it. Now I have the passenger top molding coming loose. They had to order a part. This is my 6th Mustang and its had more problems than any of them(I have 1700 miles on it). I am not happy with Ford on the built quality of my car. Troy Reed
I had a similar problem...the bumper had shifted and just needed to be reseated. The Service Manager was able to do this by hand...got the impression that this wasn't the first time he's seen this problem. I wouldn't try to fix it myself...let the service department handle it under warranty and by all means don't "live with it". You'll wish you had it addressed somewhere down the road. bpmurr
My bumper looks like this as well after having the TSB done on my 2010. It wasn't as bad prior to the "fix".
ChrisSD
Ford doesn't even look at these cars. "Ship it" is the motto. Gotta love that union labor.

Which dealership did you go to? in Southern CA? bpmurr, where did you get the TSB? Does it apply to 2011 as well? Thanks!
Shelby.GT500
Ford doesn't even look at these cars. "Ship it" is the motto. Gotta love that union labor. I agree man. All the cars my family have owned have no such issues like this. My wife drives a Toyota Tacoma and all the panels lined up perfect. My Father's E55 AMG, Sister's Toyota Matrix, Brother in law's Honda Civic, Mother's Toyota Sienna as well. I checked all of them for imperfections and everything is precise. Whats up with those guys at Ford?

Northern California...The Ford Store, Morgan Hill I've bought my last two Mustangs there and have been satisfied. btw, the bumper must have moved after I took delivery. I noticed it the first time I washed the car and don't believe it was off when I purchased it. Probably loose from day one and worked it's way to be noticeable after some bumps and driving. blackonblack
Blackonblack, is yours the same location as mine? Looks to be in the same location but your issue is a bit different
jsarkis
My rear is slightly off, not as much as yours. They do have a tsb for the 2010s, but like bpmurr said you all should have the tighter clip for the body panel already with the 11s. With mine and if I had yours Shelby.GT500 I'd probably wait until I needed something else done at the dealership to have them fix it (unless it bothers you that much). Who knows maybe they will revise the clip again to hold the panels tighter / and or yours might of been slightly damaged during installation / mfg. BDrool
A little off here but I just had to compliment Terryj, I'm personnaly not fond of the '11 wheels but your vert color and the stock wheels look real good together. A real class act...
BlwnSn8k
I have seen a few of these issues. I had a similar issue, but mine was with the front bumper not aligning properly. A little off topic, but I have noticed that the dealerships lean towards not doing too much with these cars. What I mean is I get the feeling they are almost a little scared to work on them because of the cost and value of the car. I had a paint drip spot about two inches long on my front bumper and I had to be pretty forceful with them to get them to do anything with it. Luckily a little wet sanding took care of it without any noticeable marks.
Shelby.GT500
Thanks for all the responses. I think I will just wait until they officially come up with the TSB for 2011 and a better clips for the bumper. And when they do come up with the TSB, I am not even sure if I will let the dealer touch it. I will probably go to a mustang tuner shop nearby to have them perform it. Right now it realy doesn't bother me because it is only the tail light on the passenger side which is really small to notice.

Inconsiderate
What exactly did they have to do to fix the bumper? Replace clips or try to brute force the bumper into place? Bc Both my girlfriends and mine have that same problem.....

I saw a 2010 Roush 427R in the showroom two weeks after I bought my car and it had the same alignment issue on the bumper. Also checked 4 GT's and all had the same thing. Really weird.
