I like to know if there is any interest in participating in a 2012 Shelby Run for Shelby owners. Plans are not finalized but this is just to investigate any interest. We are thinking about a multi day driving event through several countries. A kind of short holiday packed with fun, good food, nice hotels, beautiful driving and sightseeing.

If you have any questions PM or email me.

My plans until this far. If there are some US visitors I have to make it worthwhile so I was thinking about a one week trip starting in The Netherlands, Germany to do some autobahns, Switzerland (the country that hates gas guzzling cars), Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Monaco, France, Belgium and back to The Netherlands. I have a superb route, but it is about 3500km of driving and when we do this the first week of July 2012 we can include a day of Le Mans Classic. This race is not to be missed with over 400 classic race cars and 8000 cars to see from car clubs all over Europe. This way this would be a Shelby Run of a lifetime. Summer 2011 is not feasable for something like this.

So please spread the word to get as much Shelby owners. To US Shelby owners, it would be nice if some of you can ship their cars for this. Dubbsfaris (Warren) wants to do this out of Houston.

Hello to All Enthusiasts,

I am sure you will find enough guys which have interest to participate on a event like this. This year we had the first Shelby GT 500 event on a little sports airport with drag race http://www.gt500-treffen.de/home.php and it will be repeated in 2011.

For my person I have interest.

I will stay tuned for further informations.

Here you and maybe see you

Well, more news on this-

We have a VERY reasonable shipper that can ship our cars out of New York, Florida, Pasadena Texas, and L.A.

We will be allowed to personally drive our cars into the containers, make sure they are secure, watch them get closed, and be the ones to drive them out in Hamburg, Germany. Shipping times would vary with NY, FL, and TX about 15-20 days, and L.A. being a week longer.

The shipper we would use does several of these events for other car clubs, and he is the president of the EU Porsche club. He has given us an alternate itinerary of driving the Nurburing, autobahn, a drive through the swiss alps, a drive in Italy, and a VIP tour of Porsche, Ferrari, and one other manufacturer we cant reveal at this time. We are looking at 2012 summer for this event. Please chime in if you are interested! Patrick, you will be very busy with details on this soon...email me!

Exciting times my friends! No modifications are needed as we will be granted visitor show car status and licensing.

I am working on the route, but the Le Mans Classic will be the major event we will visit. So I think it will be from Jun 30 - July 8, 2012. The dates of the 2012 Le Mans Classic are not fixed yet so it could be a week later. Remember, this is a driving event. The journey itself is the big part, driving the beautiful roads of Europe.

If you want I can announce your planned event in German Forums.

Maybe we can help you to realize your plans and the event.

As for myself I would be pleased to take part with my 2011 Shelby GT500.

Let's wait a bit till there is more news. For the German part I was thinking to overnight in a hotel (Hotel Ruebezahl) near Neuschwanstein before going into Austria and Schweiz. After breakfast a tour of the castle. Keep coming back at this forum and become a Team Shelby member if you like that.

You have a approximate cost for this. Also what kind of temporary licensing may be required for this?

Warren is coordinating the shipping to Europe. Not sure what it will cost. I will organize the run. I have a route which takes us from starting point The Netherlands through Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. It is a 2500 mile drive and I am thinking about a 9 day trip including two weekends, Saturday - Sunday. Included will be a visit and drive on the Nurburgring and a day at the Le Mans Classic. Maybe a visit to Neuschwanstein castle, a car factory and Omaha Beach in Normandy.

Route will take us over Autobahns in Germany, Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse in Austria, Stelvio SS38 and SS300 and Como Lake in Italy, St Moritz in Switzerland, The Grand Canyon of Europe, Gorges du Verdun in France. It is a short vacation and opportunity of a lifetime.

It seems that the expected date of Le Mans Classic is July 14, which is a French national day. If so, dates will possibly be July 7 - July 15. Keep your schedules free somewhere between June 30 and July 20, 2012. I hope dates will be fixed within 6 months.

Well, the shipping cost itself is going to be 3k+ obviously, no exact numbers from each port of departure quite yet, but I will have that soon. (round trip cost)

I will have to get with Patrick to figure out the event costs and put together a package price, but we can get that done fairly soon as well. I figure everyone interested will need at least a year to plan this event out so we will get everything done by the spring, and then I will jump the pond and run the route to make sure everything gets worked out. This will be a special one time event, and the details will be many. I know many will prefer to rent a car over there to do this and we will price that as well, but I for one have always dreamed of driving MY "american made Shelby" through Europe and maybe even getting lucky and passing one of the top gear homers in one of their cars.:hysterical3:

Official news came that the dates of Le Mans Classic 2012 are 6 - 8 July. So my plans are to do this Shelby driving event from Sat June 30 - Sun July 8. We drive clockwise that way. If we do it anti clockwise we would have to depart on Fri July 6 - Sun July 15. Then we have one day longer and have some extra time. I have not decided yet.

Any favors?

Possible itinary:

Departure The Netherlands - Nurburgring Jun 30

Nurburgring - Bavaria Germany July 1

Bavaria Germany - Voralberg/Tirol Austria July 2

Vorarlberg/Tirol Austria - Milano Italy July 3

Milano Italy - Monte Carlo Monaco July 4

Monte Carlo Monaco - Clermont Ferrand France July 5

Clermont Ferrand France - Le Mans July 6 opportunity to watch night practice

Le Mans visit track - Rouen France July 7

Rouen France - Arrival The Netherlands July 8

Patrick, Warren,

If I may, suggestion for planning this event.

The event needs an official name that can be use for reference and for group rate discounts.

I called Triple A and asked about rate deals for car shipping and transportation

They can work with us, shipping rates very depending of location. Example as of 10:27 PST 03/21/11 shipping rate form the west coast is $1,500.00 to Europe and $1,800.00 Return. East coast rate are about $100.00 less.

Things to keep in mind your U.S. road service is not valid in Europe so call your insurance agent and find out what you need do to be covered for road side assistance and make sure you have the proper insurance coverage for the shipping process and for driving through Europe.

Not sure how it works if you live in Europe and travel cross boarders.

Shipping Documents, you will need to ship your car.

1. Copies of Proof of Insurance in case of shipping incident.

2. Copy of Car title.

3. Passport

4. Copy of SSN# I would question this one, our passport should be we need 5. Power of Attorney in case anything should happen during shipping.

6. On your return trip home, you will be required to fill out a Customs

packet before you can re-enter into the US.

Warren, don't know how far you have gotten on this but if you would like here is the Phone number for the shipper that Triple A would use, we can get a group discount based on the number of cars committing to the trip.

Each car container holds three cars.

Shipper Phone # 1-800-840-9485 press #2

As far as transportation, may I recommend taking a cruise ship to Europe and flying home. I have heard from a friend that travels to and from Norway; this is the best and most economical way to travel from the US to Europe and back.

They have been doing this since the sixties and will be heading back for their finial trip home to Norway this week… They have both retired.

Triple A will accommodate our travel requirements from different location we just need to provide a group name and reach agreement we get to that point.

There is a cruise ship leaves the US and head to England then to on to the port of Rotterdam. Those in England could board at the time if they choose. Patrick not sure which port is best, just use ths one as a point of reference.

Triple A is ok with group rates regardless of starting location, date or mode of transportation, just need a head count the more the better.

I know some of you are already working on this not trying to step on any ones toes,

If this info can help great, if you have it covered great.

Just trying to help.

If you are interested in trying to pull together a group rate for travel using Triple A, we now have a point of contact inside Triple A for US travel only. Robin Stern 1-866-363-5562 ext. 1059253.

She understand this is in the planning stage and is tentatively scheduled for 06/30/12 to 07/08/12 and, not everyone will be able to travel at the same time.

Triple A said it would be better if European accommodations were made on the European side on the pond to reduce mistakes.

As have I,

Yes, we would like to and are going to plan on it.

I showed it to Shirley last night She has always wanted to go to Europe, I’ve not been to England, I have a soft spot for English food and REAL English Ale’s and Stouts, not the American Piss water we get here.

You are the second person that has said they can't get through, Not sure what is going on I’ve check setting they look right. I will send you a test PM/ Email.

Say hello to the wife for us.

Thanks for your comments, Jim. You should keep in touch with Warren on the shipping thing. You do need to know if you can buy insurance for your car to drive around here. Us Europeans have coverage in nearly every European country. Well I have. If I ship my Shelby to Europe to drive around there I have to buy insurance too.

Shipping to Rotterdam is perfect. Amsterdam too. Rotterdam to the starting point will be a bit over 100 km. From Amsterdam it is 45 km

Amsterdam has a cruise ship terminal.

Accomodation for the trip will be arranged here. I will be contacting hotels.

After the Shelby Run Europe 2012 you can have a 3 week vacation if you have the time and do what you like. Go to Paris, London, Rome etc...

10-4, When I talked to Triple A they needed a destination point so they could provide some info. Not knowing what the plans were we picked Rotterdam just because..

Reallity is, it depends on where the ships are, on the day of departure. Amsterdam would work for me, I hear both places are well worth the trip.

Another thing that folks may consider is that the ships stop in England first.

Would it be feasible to unload in England and drive to the starting point. Not sure how long of a drive that would be but if any of the UK folks are driving it may be worth consideration. After all how often will US visitor get the opportunity to cross the channel on a ferry with our cars.
