Joe Rocks - New Watts & Tow Hook

I just finished my first rides in my Super Snake after some work done by Joe at Chicane Sports Tuning. My latest upgrades were: New powder-coated rear-end w/new 373 gears, a Tru Track posi, and Watts Linkage Control; a Pedders Export Brace; and a custom Front Tow Hook. The car is much tighter in the turns, feels more solid, and I gotta say the tow hook looks so sick! It is a removable unit with some other cool options as well. This follows recent Maximum Motosports Caster/Camber plates, Chicane's way to gorgeous Strut Tower Brace, and his Master Cylinder Brace. Wow what a difference that made on braking efficiency. I can't say enough about Joe and Chicane, he's an artist and keeps coming up with more and more killer stuff to add. I am lucky to have found him and have him only a few miles from my house. My wallet may get challenged, but the smiles exceed all expectations. A few pix of the latest goodies attached.

How is the tow hook attached? If you have it only for the looks, it does not matter. But if you race your car and it is there to be used, assure that it is solidly mounted. If the track crew has to use it, they do not have the time to be nice and gentle -- they have to get your car off the track and out of the way so they will be putting some serious stress on it. The photo of your tow hook is fuzzy so I cannot be sure, but it looks like it is attached to a bolt of some kind rather than directly to the bumper assembly behind the facia.

The rear end is nicely done -- the way all of ours should look (mine sure does not). And, if I ever change from my 3.55's, it will be to the 3.73's.

The tow hook is not a looks only deal. It attaches to a welded bracket on the bumper and is extremely solid, but is designed to be removed and have no visible signs . The rear end does look killer. The picture was before it was completed in fact and shows an unpainted bracket which is now painted. Looking at the old rusted rear end on the floor, one wonders why Ford doesn't even bother to paint the housing. It 's already rusted at original purchase!! Can't wait to get to the track, course I hope I never have to be using the tow hook!

Got it now. I join in your hope that you never need the tow hook. I put one on my car when I heard how they get you off the track if you DON'T have one. I suspect I will have to have the rear end done on my car, too. The SGTs seem to be less affected in terms of the rust and all in the rear end area. Don't know why that would be but, regardless, the way you have it is the way they all should look. Nice job.

You paid for powder coating and they installed a rusty piece of angle iron/steel as part of the watts link? What kind of watts link is installed? I would throw the BS flag.

I realized after the original post, i had screwed up with an in process photo with a temporary bracket. Final bracket is painted and the whole setup quite nice. We painted the cover and brackets black to contrast the silver housing. I'll try to get better shots of all this stuff and post. The Blackberry really does suck for decent photos.

That's good. Should be easy to keep clean, just wipe off.
