Ford Not Following Distribution Plan

Recommended Posts

Well, what I was hoping was going to be a great day yesterday turned bad. My small non-SVT, non-PA dealer was having a conference with Ford Management yesterday, and my dealer was supposed to get some commitment on my Shelby.

Instead, what he was told is that the big dealers have been given all of the regions allotment, and he (meaning me) will not be getting one.

So, I want to know why "share of the nation" cars are being sent to dealers in my region (Phoenix), and sitting on lots, while the order I placed back in March 06 will not be filled. One dealer here in Phoenix has got 8 Shelby so far. I am so angry about this. My dealer paid his $1500 to sell a Shelby, and placed my order the first day the order banks opened. He has been totally open with me, and I have no concern that it was sold out from under me. I can call Ford CS with my order number, and the order in in the bank, but now I am told it won't be filled.

I plan to call SVT today and try to get an answer. My dealer did try to find me a Shelby from other dealers, and the best deal he got was $19K over MSRP. I sold a beautiful 66 Stang convertible back in the summer in order to buy this, and now I am stuck driving my wifes old minivan.

I am a true blue Ford fan from day 1, but this hurts.

I thought that "share of the nation" cars were extra units after the orders were filled ?

Maybe the production numbers have been affected som badly by all the stops and starts and holds that some orders can't be filled. If that is the case....they owe you their 2008 unit !

Something sounds fishy, I would guess the dealer sold his allotment to another dealer out from under you. Not sure how you would find this out though?

I don't think that happened. I was getting weekly updates from my dealer, and have spoke to both the dealer and owner. I have never felt they were giving me the run-around. They could never get a commitment from the regional manager when he was going to pull the order.

I tried calling SVT, and they could not help. They said they are not involved in the distribution. Does anyone know how I can find the dealer regional rep for the Phoenix area?

ive been there on other cars before. It stinks to have this happen to you. Prices dont seem to be falling too much either. Although some dealers may have 8. I can tell you that they are definatley thinning out on ebay and are now selling for over $60k again. Just a month ago, some were bought for 55-57k . Looks like adms are here to stay for a little longer.

Sucks to say and i dont know what kind of deal you have but why not just search real hard for a decent deal from another dealer. from my personal experience, i can pretty much tell you that the ford rep is not going to help you even if you do find him. He will probally tell you its "out of his hands" and you need to speak more with your dealer. Its always nice to be bounced around like a ball. Good luck.

If you are actually talking about a Phoenix area dealer I may be able to help you as live in the area. I have actually been to all these dealers.

North Scotts

E-Hardts

Sander recd most

Berg

5snare

pioneer/grubb

bell

clayton

I have the regional reps info but need more info from you. More specifics please

which one are you talking about?

Sounds like you are talking about our dealership but we do not have a Todd L on our list. So unless thats a fake name no info.

I spoke with the dealers around too and no mention of a Todd L. I know of or have seen pretty much every Shelby in area. Even the small dealer in Prescott had a Black Convertible last fall already.

I think a lot of dealers are holding back on their prices anticipating spring is around the corner. I too have noticed prices rising again on ebay and the amount of Shelby's for sale are way down. The one's that sold December and January for under $60K were during the middle of winter. Slow time for most car dealers.

I would bet he sold your car. Lots of us bought from small dealers. I would not waste any more energy with this stealership, I would let them know they have lost a customer, forever. You can find another dealership, but will probably have to get an 08 unless you pay the high ADM.

Todd,

I talked to my connection about your claim. The only way Ford would pull your dealers allocation, is if something funny was going on with the dealership. If you care to PM me with the name of your Dealer, your order number, your dealers code, and the Name of the Owner that is telling you this, I will see if I can find out the real poop on your deal. I would also need your full name and contact information.

It sounds like Blue Oval is willing to do the same and since he works for a Dealership, and is very well connected...I would copy him on this too, if you want to push it.

you should also get emails to Bill Ford Jr and Mullay [the new CEO], and let them know this is no way to treat valued and diminishing customers. it has worked for afew other people to get their cars.

I am hoping someone from Ford is reading these boards and sees this. I wish Ford all the best as they try to dig out of this financial crisis. I am trying to give them money to help, but its not happening. I bleed Ford blue, heck, I even named my daughter Shelby (no lie). I really want this to work out.

I hesitated to post this issue because I trust what my dealer is telling me. I spoke to him this morning, and they said they were told in the call that they will be getting one of the first 08's, so they are writting up a contract for the same deal they gave me on the 07.

My issue is not with the dealer, its with the regional reps that did not follow through on the distribution plan.

Thanks for everyones help and support.

+1 Yeah, very fishy.... (assuming the dealer actually made the sign-up deadline for GT500 certification back in June/July)

Todd---Please keep us up to date with how you make out with this situation.

It is so unfortunate---any of us could be in the same boat.

Good luck!

How big is your "little" dealer. Ford is pulling dealeraships licensing aggreements if they are not meeting sales requirments and not keeping up with a prescribed growth level in a respected area. This has just happened in the Denver market. A small dealer of several decades will just cease to exist. You may be caught in this senario and nothing can be done from the dealers position. You, however should take any paperwork you have an go to the the District or Zone Rep for Ford in your area. Be worth a try. Also shop around the country. There are a lot more GT 500s out there than you think, and for sale at respectable $. (I know, "respectable $" is a realative term)

Judy,

I am not sure how to tell how small of a dealer this is. I was told that in the call they had about the 07, that they were then promised one of the first 08's to make up for it. But I have been burned already, and now think the regional rep will pull the same thing in 08. My dealer is writting up the contract for the 08 for the same deal. I know there are lots out there, but not for the deal I had.

I fell bad for them because they paid $1500 to be able to sell the Shelby, and now they won't get one.

I am trying to find the contact info for the zone rep and talk to them before I escalate this further. I am still not decided to try to fight this, or just wait for the 08. If I knew the 08 was a sure thing, I would wait. I thought the 07 was a sure thing.

I'll keep you posted. I have had several PM's with offers to help find out what really happened.

Something does seem fishy. Five Oh may have some insight on this, but it doesn't seem right. I'd put more pressure on Ford. A few questions/thoughts.

1) Are you sure the dealer may not be actually getting one, but instead of selling to you, the owner is getting it?

2) Are you sure they didn't agree to sell it for more to another dealer?

3) Does your dealer have documented proof that they were indeed given an allocation earlier? and that it has now been pulled?

4) You might look around at a way to see if they ever do get one. It may not be physically delivered to their building, but by using some of the tricks on this site and checking their inventory each week you could see if one shows up and then is sold.

Good luck, hopefully the '08 will work out for you.

Well, Ford is, indeed, closing some dealerships. We had a neighboring dealer closed recently by Ford and we bought some of their new Ford inventory. If your local dealer is one of these, then they'll be closed soon and that would explain the GT500 order.

However, is it possible that your dealer did not complete all training requirements in time last year? If they did, and Ford collected $1,500 from them for signing up to sell GT500's, then the issue is with the dealership, not Ford. Perhaps they sold your car to another dealership or customer? Bad things happen out there. If your dealership is truly honest and upstanding, I have to go back to thinking that they really didn't complete the training requirements on time (or at all).

As someone mentioned already, we've already received our two GT500's for being a full-line SVT dealer, one GT500 for being signed up to sell GT500's, and one more GT500 for winning the President's Award. Our 5th and final GT500 is our "share of nation" car and it has already been built and is one a railcar heading our way this week. Ford is on pace to build and ship the 9,000 US-bound GT500's, so there shouldn't have been any reason for them to pull allocation.

Im willing to bet when the challenger come out and the camaro come out. They too will be getting adms. Id guess probally around $5k though. For the simple reason that the latest information shows they will be coming out at about the same time. If either one were out now.I honestly feel, It would definatley affect the adms on the shelby by at least $5k

I am sure he completed the training in time. I was on the phone constantly during that time, and he said he paid his $1500 and took the test. So, I don't think that was the issue.

I asked if they were going to be affected by the closings, and they said no.

I hope to get to the bottom of what really happened this week. I believe what he told me, but it doesn't hurt to do some additional checking. I have requested the name of the regional rep from my dealer as a first step. I just dont want to get strung along for another year. My contract said I will be getting the first 07 available to that dealer, and I called Ford CS every 2 weeks to get any updates on my order, in addition to talking to my dealer.

Five O B, what would you suggest I do to get to the bottom of this? I don't want to tick off my dealer because he is promising me the 08. I just want my car!!
