I am new to this forum but love it so far. I just have one question for right now. What is the best way to find out what the status of my car is. I have a vin # already!! Is there someone that I can call besides the dealer?? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Welcome Petsn8ke,

Glad you found us. You can call Customer Service at 1-800-392-3673. Go thru the automated system and then they will connect you to a person. Give them your Vin# and tell them you want to check on your order status.

Good luck my friend.

As previously said .. customer service or the dealer that ordered the car for you. They can run a concepts to see if any changes have been issued.

Typically when u get a vin ... its going to be sub to plant .... then bucked .. being built ... than released from plant than you get a rail car number.

Your getting closer ... we all had to endure the wait but its well worth it ! :happy feet:

Just got off the phone with customer service. All they could tell me that it was released from plant. Is the next step a rail car? Is there anyway of finding out what the build date was? Thanks again for all the help.

Yes.

Yes CS should be able to give the build date.

You are getting real close now!

Was it "Released from plant" or "Released from foreign plant"? There's a difference. Once your car is built, it is "released from plant". At that point is sent across the street to have stripes applied. When striping is complete, your status will change to "Released from foreign plant." Then it goes back across the street for quality checks and then it will sit and wait for the next available train.

welcome petsnake!

Read the FAQ in the new arrivals area, that will tell you all the steps of getting a Mustang. Released from plant means the car is mostly assembled, and it will then be sent to a different plant nearby for striping and final trim additions. Then it will go to a staging area to be loaded on a rail car or car hauler.

Keep in mind that the info they give you may not be perfect...we've found that their systems are often wrong in terms of exact dates and status. For example, my car was released from plant BEFORE it was put on the assembly line...which is obviously impossible.

Hang in there, your car will come.

Edit: Just saw your newest post...looks like it will be there soon. If it's been released to convoy, the March 3 date is likely fairly accurate within a couple days.

  • 2 weeks later...
How often does ford update their computer system? They are still saying that the estimated delivery date is March 3rd and that it is released from plant. So my guess is that it will not be at the dealer on the 3rd.

I think it's once a week, but we've learned the system cannot be completely trusted. Look at my sig.

I had a delivery date of March 3rd to March 10th on a new F150 and took delivery today (February 28th).

On my GT500, it seemed like the last few days before I took delivery, the Customer Service was completely confused on it's location. From what I understand, it's simply a call service in Florida they use company wide. At least it's not India like every other service line you call anymore. Hell, these people probably don't even know what kind of car a GT500 is. They're probably reading from a script.

I hope your projected date comes true. Do you know if you have a rail car number. Next time you call CS, ask themir they show a ETTX 738827 type of call out. That would be a good sign.

Good luck, and welcome again.
