Egg Smell Exhaust

AlloyDropTop

Recommended Posts

I have noticed my exhaust has a rotten egg smell at times after accelerating, It is a ragtop, so I notice it when I come to a stop light shortly after a hard pull.

I only have KR mufflers and no other mods.

No check engine light.

I guess it could be fuel, so I will try different brand next.

Can anything go wrong that would need to be addressed without causing the check engine light? I am only a few months from the end of my 3/36 so I am hypersensitive right now.

How many miles. I can't imagine the converters are getting plugged yet if it is low mileage.

Does your car have a custom tune in it?

No. Only change is the KR mufflers.

I am finding a big range of answers using google.

Some people say some smell at high loads can be normal. Others suggest that only an overich mixture would cause it. But, I would think an overich mixture would cause a check engine light, if it was a problem. And I don't have a check engine light.

Have you tried changing your diet? :lol2:

Seriously, it is a natural body automotive function. It means your emissions system is working properly. Yes changing your fuel may help.

OK,,,,,,,,,,I'm going to go now. :worm:

+100....if you smell rotten eggs, your cats are bad.....I have seen several sets go bad on even stock 07-09 GT500's.

I have the stock ones off my 2010 on ebay if you are interested. According to Ford, they were improved for 2010.
