Shelby GT Floor Mats

I am a bit upset with some thing I have seen for myself today including this picture. I just vented with my wife. She doesn't have the passion and emotion for the car and offered this thought. Maybe this was just another Shelby GT that arrived without the floormats and that dealership placed that set of floormats in the car as stop gap. The gray color doesn't even seem to match. Did you ask by chance? I hope you didn't and my wife's thoughts are correct or this has just been a bummer day. :(

I asked and was told they came with it from Shelby as per the Shelby window sticker. Sorry, to be the barrier of more bad news and your bummer day.

....well, if that's the case I am going to rethink my SAI upgrade list and have things done where I know exactly what I am getting and what I am paying for it. I am becoming heart broken.

The picture sure looks that its overlayed on the old grill with fog lights behind it. Could this have been a promo car done up Quickly ? Can`t believe they would do it this way it doesn`t make alot of sense.

No, the grille is replaced with the Shelby grille as I have looked all over the car. There is no room for both grilles to co-exist.

Gary

Could Gary have been wrong?? or maybe they changed the process during production to save time/money??

any help here Amy?? goakley? anyone else who has their cars?

Folks,

I have to correct a wrong statement I made about the grille issue. I looked again, only deeper at the front end, and noticed the original grille is there minus the foglights and running horse. Those pieces were removed and the Shelby grille has been placed in front of it.

My mistake - I apologize for misleading everyone. The original grille is quite un-noticable from even a close position, but if you look down inside the area where the hood latches, you'll see the "honeycomb" grille work.

If you look at the gallery, it shows the complete removal of the grill. Why would they remove the original grill only to replace it, shave it down, remove the lights and horse and put the shelby grill over it?

http://www.shelbyautos.com/galleries/gt2/gt203-1024.jpg

My guess is this....

The photos were taken during the first few days of production, turns out removing the grill was taking too much time and causing a bottleneck in the process. The decision was made to leave the original grill in place, modify it and put the shelby grill over the top of it.

Gary has had his car for weeks now, (likely spent an inordinate amount of time just staring at it,) had said in previous posts, most recently this morning that the original grill was gone. It took all of us who don't have our cars yet worrying about it to get Gary to take another "closer" look at it to even notice that it was there.

My take on the grill.....

No big deal.

Now the floormats....

That is a BIG disappointment. I was on my way to buy another set of stock GT all-weather floormats so I could protect the original shelby mats. I think I will reverse that priority and let the shelby mats wear out and keep the stock GT mats for "dress-up".

I think that was a corner that was cut. :banghead:

On the bright side.....

I TAKE DELIVERY AT SAI MUSEUM NEXT FRIDAY!!!!!!!!! :hyper:

.....make sure to give details after the Museum delivery. I have to wait at least 3-4 weeks for the superchargers to arrive.

Guys, I answered this somewhere else, I am not sure where the confusion is. We never intentionally showed or said there were any other mats then what is coming with this car. The mats must be OE standard, so I could never offer the signature ones and I believe all the prototypes have the OE mats. The signature mats are something we sell extra in the shop. The OE mats are Ford mats with a billetted shelby name tag.

Here are the pics with the mats I thought I was getting when I ordered the car. Compared with what they are showing up with Im very disapointed. Its these little changes that keep happening that I dont like.

Amy,

I know it is tough to understand or get points across in this type of dialouge. Especially when it is being bounced over a couple of threads.

I don't think the floormats we Shelby GT owners expected were the "signature" floormats. Meaning the ones with two bars and Mr Shelby's signature. We have seen those on the shopping page of Shelby autos website. The floormats we were expecting have the "CS" logo and Shelby GT embroidered on them. I saw pictures of them in the initial announcement/report of the Shelby GT on themustangsouce.com (link below). There are two pictures of the interior with the floormats I speak of. The rest of the pictures are the same pictures that were originally and still posted in the gallery section of the Shelby web site. The article even mentions the floormats, "Inside, features include ‘Shelby GT’ logo floor mats..."

http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/05/07/shelbygt.htm

It is fine, if these ones were also not OEM and therefore could not be sold with the car but it is disapointing. To me the floormats coming with the car look like they could be a standard aftermarket floormat from Shelby. When I first saw them I asked the member who posted the pictures if they were put in place by the dealership in lieu of the the actual floormats that were delayed by the "floormat delete" problem.

Respectfully,

Chris

PS.

Overall, I still love 95% of this car and every free minute is spent thinking of my Shelby GT.

Thanks Chris, I will check on these, as I said in the other post, I never saw this mat, so I am a bit confused where it came from and where the picture came from. It might have been that we proposed it upfront and we quickly realized it would not pass Ford OE standards. as I said, I will check. This picture must have been from the very first unveil or something. Thanks for understanding the overall approval, I am sorry there is confusion here

Inside, features include ‘Shelby GT' logo floor mats and custom sill plates with Shelby GT nomenclature.

This is from Shelbyautos.com home page under Shelby Introduces the 2007 Shelby GT. The mats that are coming with the SGT say "CS Shelby" and not the "Shelby GT" logo as stated on thier website.

Did you not read the above post #16 from Amy? :headscratch:

All the issues with the mats are out in the open. Let's not complain anymore...it will not do any good.

She said that she would ask her team about it to find out the history. Let's leave it at that and let her check into it.

Ditto.

I wonder if we can put the "CS Shelby GT" floormats as shown on the pictures on our SAI wish list?

Maybe they can get these made and offer them as aftermarket? I know at least one guy who would buy a set? :hyper:

This is correct, the billeted logo has the cs logo and the name shelby, mit doesn't have the Gt, as it didn't fit and since the plate fit an exisiting section of the OE mats, we went with Shelby alone. I need to know where on our site the mat in question was found, or where the picture of the sewn mat came from. so, I can clarify it. I have checked the site and couldn't find the sewn one you thought was with the car. But I am still checking.

Could we make this mat? I am sure we can, I will talk to the team

Amy:

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure where the logo mat is on the SAI site but I think I can tell which car it is in. Check 07GT01C

March 2007 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords magazine shows this car with a picture of the "CS Shelby GT" logo mats. Page 90. Was that picture taken when they saw the car for the article?

the mystery continues....

Amy,

Right from the Shelby GT link on shelbyautos.com:

"Inside, features include ‘Shelby GT' logo floor mats and custom sill plates with Shelby GT nomenclature. In addition, the Shelby GT features an authentication plate on the center dashboard, as well as matching tag underhood. This tag features the CSX number, which is recorded in the Shelby Automobiles registry."

[Amy,

If you check the mats in the 1st production car that sold at barrett jackson I think you will find the "Shelby GT" mats like the ones I posted.

I still want my car but I dont want the car to be changed from what I ordered. I guess most of all I want to want this car as bad as I did when I found out it would have a "Shelby" plaque under the hood. This and the stance/look of the car switched me from pursuing a GT500.

Amy- I have found one of the sources which we all accessed showing these mats. If you go to edmunds.com to their First Drive of the Shelby GT in August you will see the interior shot showing the mats. The web page is at edmunds.com/insideline/d0/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId-116496.

You mentioned earlier that you thought this would be an easy thing to bring about. Any word on that?

Thanks
