Why no GT500 Brochures?

I and many others would like to see the different color combo's.

And would love to have a brochure of a car such as the GT500 period.

I feel like i am going on a blind date, because I ordered Alloy w Satin Silver stripes.

The dealer says I have time to change my mind, but I have been trying to see a sample chip of G5 Alloy. I found a page within a Ford paint website. But it even warns that different computer monitors will not show color well.

And the sample is so small, just as warned on the website, you can really see it.

Can or do anyone have a sample or know where I can see Alloy G5?

Any help, I would be greatful.

But in all, it just don't make sense to not make a brochure of the GT500.

I say this because I was told this by the Ford Performance group, that there will be no brochure.

Come to think about it, I have not seen an Alloy either (along an Orange). I'll try and keep my eye open for one.

As for the brouchure, they did make one containing the GT500 for the NAIAS and I suppose it was given away in Chicago too? It only shows a red GT500 though. It's the same brouchure we've been giving away here from time to time.

Thanks Robert

There will be a brochure, but they don't typically come out until near the time that the cars start arriving. Sometimes, we get new models before the brochures start arriving, so don't worry if it's several more months before one comes out on the 2007 Mustangs/Shelbys.

five oh:

if we have an order made, and a DORA.... can we still change the option preference prior to production? when is the "point of no return" when it comes to selecting options? If i change requested options on my DORA, does that put me at the "back of the line" again in terms of production priority? thanks in advance for the info.... I'm gettin a little nervous about the torch red and blk/crimson combo based on what is posted on this forum (talk of color mismatch)....

Robert, the color on the 2004 chart is the same color for the Shelby.

I got this info. directly from SVT. They said the color was used before.

BoneDoc, the dealer called SVT in ref. to making changes, and was informed that any changes can safely be made before production starts in June.

It is very dark. Nearly black. Should be nice. I wonder why they didn't choose Alloy stripes instead of Tungsten.

I'd like to see them release pics of all the color combos as well. I understand LSR's frustration ordering a car for over $40,000 and not really noing what your getting. My understanding is that you can make changes to the order without going to the back of the line as long as a build date hasn't been assigned. Once a build date is assigned, I believe you go to the back of the line.

Well, this morning I called Ford Performance Group to see if I could contact the guy that previously told me he had a picture of Alloy. For some reason this color is being kept under wraps until delivery.

Anyway, I spoke with a gentlemen that was very kind and understanding and took the time to look and ask. He came back to the phone and said he couldn't find anything to email me, but he also has seen the Alloy w Satin Silver stripes combo that I ordered and says the it is a very attracted color combo.

He stated that Alloy is a very dark grey as some of you have also said, and says with the silver stripes it was a perfect match. He also says that Alloy has high metallic and at night looks black.

Most of all, he says I will be very happy with Alloy w Satin Silver stripes.

So, I guess I will stay with my choice, Alloy w Satin Silver stripes.

Actually, you can make changes to your order even after production starts. You just have to make your changes before YOUR order is pulled by Ford to be processed. Changes do not put you to the end of the line, it only generates a new DORA for your "altered order." Now, if your dealer does not "alter" the order, and they submit a whole new order for your car instead then you're hosed!

There used to be a way to get a general idea of when a Mustang would be made. It was done by asking the last day in which an order could be amended. The Mustang would be produced with a few weeks of that day. I do not know if this is still the case?

:headscratch: Changed my order today. Went from Alloy w Satin stripes to White w Blue stripes.

I think it is very unorganized for a Company as big as Ford to produce a car such as the GT500 Shelby. List colors that it will be offered in, open order banks, and colors can't be viewed before ordering. No MSRP set, as well as other things.

The color situation I can't understand, the other things mentioned, I can understand.

By the way, back to the title of this thread (why no brochures), hopefully you all now know that a dealer has to sign up to be a GT500 dealership by April 30th and pay a $1500 fee. Once Ford knows which dealers are signed up, they will send out showroom materials to those dealers, including brochures. Guess that means it could be weeks, or even a couple months, before us SVT dealers have this product info in hand.

Way to go, Robert. Nice shots. That Alloy looks great. Mean looking on a Coupe, I think.

I get the hint - find a coupe :yup:

Intersting insight that gives us a much better time frame.

  • 1 month later...

For anyone who wants to see G5 (Alloy Metallic) in person, us dealers have received the annual color chip books. There are huge 8.5" x 11" samples of each color in these books. If your dealer doesn't have the 2007 car color book, G5 is also in the 2007 SUV/Truck color book, too.

Hey, King... very cool color painter... thanks! Makes such a diff to actually see colors laid against one another. The Ford guys at the NY Int'l Auto Show were telling me that alloy would be the color of the Super Chief concept superduty (an aluminum-like silver) they had on display, but it's actually a very dark gray-black like some of the posts above mention -- at least that's how it looks in the dealer's swatch book.

pasting from over at blueovalforums-

<<How the scheduling, production and shipping goes for a new vehicle!

Receipt Date: The date that MS&S recorded the order

When the order is received from the dealers (You give the dealer a deposit and they put the order into the order bank.)

Serialize Date: The date that MS&S transfers the order to MP&L and the VIN is created

When the order is received by Material Planning and parts are ordered

Segment Date: The date that MP&L determines which week the order will be built

When they figure (roughly) that parts will hit the plant to build vehicle

Sequence Date: The date that MP&L determines which day the order will be built

When they figure the exact day that parts will hit the plant to build vehicle

Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day

When they figure the order that vehicles will be built. This depends on options and line constraints.

Produced Date: The date that VO finished assembling the vehicle

Your unit has been built!

Gate Release Date: The date that VO transfers the vehicle to Transportation Carriers for shipping

Your unit has left the building, and is in the hands of the shipper (rail or truck)

Ship Date: The date the vehicle left the Assembly Plant

Your unit has left the load site, and is on it's way to the dealer

Arrival Date: The date the Dealership received the vehicle

Your dealer has the unit in hand, doing the dealer prep thingy

Sold Date: The date the Customer picked up the vehicle

You came in, looked it over, said, "I'll take it!" and signed the papers

*******************************************************************************

up until sequence date (I think) changes can be made- once blended, the parts are queued up for meeting the car coming down the line- typically 1 week later from what I saw tracking mine thru Kzinti, watching many others posting on theirs...I know once blended, its pretty much locked in regarding changes...hard to imagine logistics required to make sure the red bumper, the IUP, the whatever color seat, etc meetup at close enough to the same time that there aint a bizillion of wrong colored ones to move out of the way as a certain car comes down...pretty accurate timing part flow required for sure...imagine while scheduling they are likely lumping similars all together, but still...lots of details to get right just to have all the pieces present...would be cool to see someday.
