DutchGT500
Guys, We unloaded the Snake and drove it to the gas station to fill up and then to storage. We have to get the car inspected for the license plate. It will take another 3 weeks before I can drive the car. First thing I noticed is that the exhaust tips were not centered and a bit turned. Also the 4x4 look at the back of these cars. I will have to get this car lowered first. Lastly I noticed the engine was built by two women. Kimberley and I can't remember her name. We all know women are more precise in doing their job then men, so I have one hell of an engine. Here are some photos. My son Rick Ford and daughter Cheyenne Shelby are proud too. I drove the car for 30 seconds to the gas station and immediately drew attention. People flock this car. Ask what is under the hood. When I say 500 horse 5.4 V8, people faint. There's no blending into the Dutch background for you... Given the attention you've already witnessed, be ready for a lot of gawking while on the highways and in parking lots. Son of GT
Congratulations Patrick! What color Shelby is represen'tin on the other side of the Atlantic??? GRABBER ORANGE OF COURSE! Okay Patrick, this spring, find a field of ORANGE tulips and take a picture of your Shelby right in front of it. It will be a perfect contrast and a great picture. Don't take the power of this car for granted, test the waters slowly at first. Oh yes, for goodness sake, don't throttle off when you're sideways! Wait until the car is straight as possible and then ease off the throttle. Trust me on this. Take care and drive safely.
KingCobra666
Congrats! Car looks great! :happy feet: I love the GO, that would have been my choice if not for an obsessive love of black cars. No driving in them wooden shoes now, ya hear! DutchGT500
Congrats Patrick, looks great. How did they get out after the pulle id in that container? When the truck left. We spinned the tires and flew of the loading dock. No, we drove through the building to an overhead door and went outside. Guys, thanks for all the support all these months and I will make some nice photos at some Dutch landmarks. Like this. I wished we Dutch had being asked to help out watermanagement before Katrina instead of after. A lot of people have died unfortunately for something that can be made. Also for cat 5 hurricanes. 68fastback
Congrats, Patrick!!!! It would be cool to post a pic of the Romeo engine placque -- there used to be a thread here called 'Who biuld your engine' (or something like that) but I don't recall any women on the early cars, so a pic would be a good addition. Good luck!!! Rick Ford and Cheyenne Shelby?! Boy, they are two lucky kids ;-) I think we're gonna have to file the papers to make you and your family honorary Americas!!!! (Love your son's flight jacket ;-) Glad to see our Dutch friends still "feel the love" -- true friends for many decades! ... I used to have a fellow working for me some 25 years ago whose wife was Dutch. When my wife and I were looking for property in the early '80s, we ran into a meets-and-bounds deed problem. I tracked the deeds all the way back to when they were written in Dutch (we live in the Kingston-Woodstock area of NY State which was mostly Dutch settled in 1600s) and she was able to translate the original deeds ...we found a transcription error and resolved the problem ;-) ... So in the end it is +5K.
Five Oh B
Yeah, Patrick! Finally, your GT500 is in Holland! I'll have my wife tell her cousin, Babette, to be on the look out for your orange GT500 there in Almere!
moabman
.... I wished we Dutch had being asked to help out watermanagement before Katrina instead of after. A lot of people have died unfortunately for something that can be made. Also for cat 5 hurricanes. Ironically, you were. Many of the pumps that are used on the canal system were made in Holland in the 1900 time frame. I hope that they are going to improve the levee system significantly. I just read that New Orleans is losing people again - more are leaving than returning. A good background book is The Control of Nature by John McPhee. His section on the Mississippi is very good. DutchGT500
I kept the plastic seatcovers. Unfortunately they are torn but that is unavoidable considering that the car is loaded and unloaded many times. I wish I had some fresh ones. Maybe there is someone that can help me with some new ones. It is only for the collection. Ajax plays in white with red. It is the Dutch national soccer team that plays in Orange. BoneDoc
Patrick- you've been awfully quiet about your new car...... what do you think? had a chance to take her for a long drive? how does she stack up against your other ponies? what do you think of the color (was it what you expected?) Let's hear it, man!
DutchGT500
The car is being prepared for license plate inspection. Before I have a licenseplate it will take another couple of weeks. Maybe first week of March. So I can't say anything about the car yet. It will look great beside the 97 Cobra. I love the color. It is the best for the GT500 IMO. I washed the car last Saturday and I saw some paint flaws. FI, a runner in the middle of the wheelwell. It is on the inside edge. Now when I have waxed the car the color surely will show. I will send photos.
