Green Jello
I've been going back and forth for a long time about getting new tires and wheels. I know I need to get more rubber on the road. Right now I have a Vista Blue 2008 SGT/SC with no other add-ons or anything yet. The wheels and tires I've been looking at are the Black GT 500 wheels from American Muscle with the 18x10's in the back and the 18x9's in the front. For the tires I was looking at the NITTO Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial (305/35-18) in the back and the NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 (275/35-18) in the front. Wheels Back http://www.americanm...18x10-0510.html Wheels Front http://www.americanm...-18x9-9410.html Tires Back http://www.americanm...-305-35-18.html Tires Front http://www.americanm...-275-35-18.html What's the thoughts of the board for this setup? I've been having trouble pulling the trigger on these because it's going to be expensive and I don't want to make the wrong choice. I'd hate to spend that much and be disappointed. I've never bought performance tires before either. I'm really not concerned with the miles I get out of them because I don't drive the car enough to worry. Thanks for any input! -Tim
jmn444
I've been dying to see those on a SGT.... what color is your SGT? I personally think they'd look killer on any color car, but obviously i'm partial to black!

Same size of wheel and tires. I haven't made the purchase yet also because I have not seen any reviews regarding having 305's on the rear of the SGT. Thanks for any input! -Tim The 275/35's on the front will be too short and leave a lot of open wheel well to look at, the 305's on the rear are 26.3" tall and the 275's are 25.6" tall. I just pulled two 275/35/18's off my new wheels that never even hit the road for that very reason. They still have the stickers on them, I went with 255/45/18"s on the front which is a 27" tire with 315/35/18"s Toyo TQ DR's 26.6" tall on 11" rears , I would go with the 305/40's for the rear. SteelTownStang
Looks good... don't forget to add the TPMS... Also, you might want to check out RT Tire. I just purchased wheels, tires, and sensors. They were the cheapest... awesome service and super fast delivery.

' Good point... I think for the back I'll go with: http://www.americanm...-305-40-18.html 27.72" tall and the front: http://www.americanm...-275-40-18.html 25.59" tall A full 2 inch difference between front and back. That would give a classic look, or am I just missing the point?

That's a bit much for me IMHO, I would go with a narrower, taller tire for the front.

StrayShadow
Kurgan runs steeda pentars... i love those too! Ah well, they look the same from a distance. I do like the wheels on Kurgans SGT! Either set looks good. I have a set of cs40's with the black centers. I have yet to purchase tires though. Frank S
I like the looks of the new GT500 wheel; I think it would look good on the car. I like the wheels as well, but it seems to me the V-Blue car cries out for chrome or silver. This zip file will yield an Excel file that is a calculator by (Don W) to help check out wheel revs per mile for various tire sizes and axle ratios. (Seems to me that rear tire you are looking at is a bit tall for a standard ratio) RPM vs Speed Calculator

EL SHELBY
I don't know why, but to me those wheels just don't look good on anything other than the 2010+ GT500's. This is not a shot at anyone who has them or is looking to add them but to me they just look out of place. I guess maybe they look 'To OEM'. I was just going off what NITTO had listed on their site. I'm new to the whole wheel/tire thing. 26.5" would be find by me.
