Nashional
Took my 2011 in because a couple of weeks ago it started making a "moaning" noise when turning. It's easily audible from inside and outside the car. The dealership acknowledged the noise. But later said that Ford said it was normal. I'm thinking it's not. Anyone with a 2011 have this noise? Several posts on this noise from limited slip clutches. Friction modifier from dealer cures it.

So, the noise is from the clutch and not the steering, even though it only does it when turning?
ram_g
So, the noise is from the clutch and not the steering, even though it only does it when turning? Do a search. He's referring to the limited slip clutch plates in the differential, not the manual transmission clutch! Yes these limited slip plates are the source of the noise you're hearing. Also BTW Ford does state that the GT500 differential noise is normal, so your dealer is correct. But if it is too objectionable you can fix it with the friction modifier. I have the same noise and I'm accepting it as a sign of character of a high performance vehicle...

Yes, the differential clutches. Not the transmission clutch. I'm sorry for lack of clarity!
