Hello All,

I am planning a Team Shelby Track Day at the all new private Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center, CA. on October 16 and 17, 2010 at the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway We are planning on 50-125 TS Members to be part of the two day event. There would be a $100 per day charge for the use of the track on a per day and a $25 per day donation for The Carroll Shelby Foundation, which Chuckwalla Valley Raceway would be writing the check. Chuckwalla is 45 minutes east of Palm Springs, and we will set-up a hotel discount a Fantasy Springs Casino for Friday and Sat nights. This will be a blast. More details to come, just want to know at this point how many people will commit for two days of fun.

Great Guys and Gals!!! We are working out the details with Shelby Licensing right now in order to make this a Team Shelby sponsored event at this great new track. My buddy Mikey is 1/3 owner of this track and is a great guy. He has sent me several cars for upgrades and I would like to support his new venture the best I can and show him what a great group we are as well as support the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation.

Chuckwalla carries their own insurance, has an ambulance with medical staff on site, a private airplane hanger to work on and store cars, and a private airstrip for people that like to fly in to race their cars. Many members leave their cars there and fly in from all around the world to race them. This is a top quality, great fun track that is growing rapidly. Usual charge for non members is $200 per day, so we are getting a great deal $100+ $25 per day for donation to the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation. Professional instructors will be on hand to drive with you at no charge too to improve your driving. There are also no barriers or walls to hit, and convertibles are welcome too with no rollbars unlike most other tracks!! This is a must do event for all that can come!!!

I have also invited Wicked Stangs in San Diego to join us. I will invite LASAAC at SAAC 35 to also join us. Beside the two days on the track, Saturday night will be a blast too.

Tom,

Great idea to invite those guys. I know the LASAAC guys did not get their May Willow Springs trip in this year and I have not heard anything about them doing a September trip to Willow.

Your thoughts about Saturday night could prove prophetic. Can I drive your car on Sunday if you are late getting up? :hysterical:

I will be partying Saturday night, but will not miss the track on Sunday morning. It very hard for me to be allowed on a track due to "No Roll Cage." Are you planning on coming for both days, Jim?

Damnit Alex! Why do you gotta go and put together such an awesome event that even the poor guys can attend. I wish I still lived in San Diego 'cuz I'd be there in a heartbeat. I assume this is the new track I read about in the Palm Springs paper in March? I was drooling at the site of that track and now you gotta go coordinate a Shelby event out there. Oh well. I can live vicariously through all of you. It will undoubtedly be a BLAST!

I think I need to get in on this. :happy feet:

Certainly sounds like a great opportunity. Is there a "Policies and Procedures" document yet? Like helmets, long pants and shirt sleeves, tow hooks, and so on?

Put me down for two days' worth, good Ford willin' and the creek don't rise.

Great guys and Gals, this is going to be a great event. I will get more details next week on payment. You will need a helmet and long pants, but no tow hooks needed.

Sat night will be a blast too....haven't decided if I am going to stay at my house on Friday and Sat, or stay at the hotel with all of you coming....

If we have less than 50 cars, I am thinking 2 groups....group 1 novice-intermediate, group 2 more advanced. passengers allowed in group 1. So far, 35 people have shown interest, still waiting to get Shelby Licensing on board...

Price will now be $100 per day....

We will now call this "The Southern CA Team Shelby Members Shelby & Mustang Track Day" if any mods would like to change the title, feel free.

All Mustangs, Ford GT's, and Shelby's including the Dodge's (Alan are you there??) are welcome. This will be a great time. If you have another vehicle not in the group, PM me. Track will be ready to accept payments next week, and I will list a link for the Hotel discount where we will be staying. I guarantee we will have 2 fun evenings for those of you that are there too... :happy feet:

We can't seem to get Shelby Licensing to call or email us back, so price will now be $100 per day with no donation of $25 per day to the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation.

Alex

That's a shame Alex....I wonder what gives with them? :headscratch:

  • 2 weeks later...

Here is the link to pay for the track days:

Chuckwall Valley Raceway Oct 16&17

Click on events, then click on the days you want. If you are just attending Sat, Oct 16th, enter Shelby 1 as the discount code, for both days enter Shelby 2 as the discount code. This will make it $100 per day. The sooner you register, the better. 2 weeks before the event, the price will go up $25 per day.

For Hotel reservations on Friday and Saturday nights where most of us will be staying, call Fantasy Springs Hotel and Casino at (760) 342-5000. They have a room rate for Friday and Saturday of $109 per night, use the code CVR2010 to get the discount.

This will be a very fun day for everyone. Passengers will be allowed, and no tow hooks or roll cages required.

Please post here when you have paid, for one day or two, and if you will be joining us at the hotel.
