Thoughts on the 2012 Boss 302?

I am seriously considering the Laguna Seca edition. I have my SGT paid off and if I can sell my 71 Olds cutlass Vert with a 455 in it by next summer I will own the Boss 302 Laguna Seca.

I think the car is awesome I can't wait to see one in person.

I'm also looking at the Laguna Seca edition. I love that red and black on in the new photos.

Curious about pricing. I would probably have to sell my procharged GTO to help with the cost  . I'll have to wait and see, but I'll be watching this one.

It's very cool! Brings back one of the legendary names of the "Total Performance" era--with the teeth (or ponies, if you prefer) to back it up! Love it! Would love to have one, but my preference is a convertible, otherwise I'd already have a Bullitt, etc.

Don't like the 69 stripes at all . Looks like a tuner car . Where's the SHAKER ? I will be keeping my KR for some time now . I think Saleen did a better job with the PJ mustang a few years ago.

Psrsonally, I never had a fascination with the Boss 302 back in '69-70 and don't really care about it now either. I was fortunate enough to own, and stupid enough to sell, a '70 Boss 429 and a '71 Boss 351, both of which I liked much more than the Boss 302. Bring back the Boss 429 and my GT500 goes up for sale in a heartbeat.

69 Boss 302s didnt have a shaker hood!! Only avaible in 70. I know alot of 69s have them, but was not an option until 70!

I cant wait to see one up close. I like everything but the wheels! And wheels are and easy fix!

What about the rear window louvers? I believe that was a factory . Not practical for racing but they do look cool on early Stangs, not sure on the late models.

Loved my Boss9!! I wish I could have kept her! Out of all the cars I have owned that car hurt the most to sell!!!

Almost postive SPORT SLATS were an option. Agree that I dont think they helped in racing, but they did look cool!

When I had the Boss9 I took it to Atlanta so it could be in a show call American Muslce Car. This show was about the Boss9 and Boss302. One of the 302 cars was a charcoal color. It was a Lincoln color NOT Ford. The guy had done some research and found out that the orginal buyer had bought ALOT of Fords and Licolns and wanted a Boss 302 to MATCH the Lincoln he was buying. So Ford painted it the color of the Lincoln. You couldnt get Ford to do that now!!!

It's still early in the going and a lot more info will be coming out in the coming weeks and months. I've got an interest in the street Boss 302 but I hear a few conflicting opinions on the net about it.

Many people think it's going to be a stripped down GT and more for the track and the street. I'm a little confused by that because that's what the LS is for. I love my 08 GT500 but this Boss promises to be the best handling and performing Mustang ever. I wouldn't "track" it, there just isn't anywhere around here to do that, but I might make a trip once a year to a track day somewhere. I'm just mainly interested in a well handling street performer.

I don't want to be too critical of the GT500 but we all know it does have a few handling issues, although it's always done everything I've asked of it. So I'm very interested in road test of the Boss 302.

Never, ever wanting to be a "poser" the Boss 302 is the only Mustang I'd ever consider building a clone of. Before I bought the GT 500, I actually considered it....then again the top doesn't go down on them......

Not to be knocking it, but I do like the PJ edition stripes better.....and you gotta have the slats!

Well, I dont know what you guys are waiting for....I am already in line to get one! :happy feet:

BTW- I love my convertibe, but hey, this is a TRACK car....rear seat delete and all. If you are looking for this car to come in a vert configuration, you dont track much. :headscratch:

I know I p _ ss and moan :violin: alot on here about the possibility of a clutch issue om my 500... Don't want to :beatdeadhorse: , anymore.

I was out driving today and spent a bunch of time with my new camera, taking pictures of my beloved 500 coupe. I am becoming re-acquainted with it of late, the more I drive it. I am not going to worry or write about the clutch anymore...I promise, Grabber! Lol...

My Point ??? I was thinking of the new BOSS 302 street version, a couple weeks ago, as many saw me post the day before it was officially announced. I don't think so anymore. First, I love my GT500, second I think the new BOSS is too 'blingy'?? Is that the right word? Too bizzy?? I agree with Michael totally on the wheels...easy fix. As for the rear slats...YES, the car needs them, IMHO. Also IMHO, the only good looking 'smooth' slats are the SALEEN PJ slats. They are a low-profile design and would not rattle , as they are made of resin. Next thought, is that the rear tail section can be fixed , (if you are a late model tail hater), now that SilverHorse is fastly working on a new honeycomb panel and taillamp surrounds. Then lastly, I think the car will unfortuneately outperform our 500's in ALL categories, which again as I said on the front side, I'm OK with...just replying to "Thoughts On The 2012 BOSS 302". My 2 cents... :victory:

i am wondering if the ADM's will make a comeback and to what extent and knowing that they will keeps me from even exploring the boss in depth.i would hate to get all excited about it then when going to get one get the same treatment that i did when shopping for a gt500.

I hear ya! I like the Kona blue and the white is okay- except for the roof, I think that is too much. I hope it's offered with black accents as well. I'm debating back and forth about getting the Boss 302 or keeping my GT500. I love the GT500 but like you I think the Boss is going to outperform it in every way. I've had no clutch issues and I think I drive it in such a way that I most likely won't have a problem with it, but it's still in the back of my mind.

I hear some people saying the Boss won't have a Shaker 500, just a base radio. Nor will it have power seats or even a security package. While I don't need a ton of options I certainly would like power seats and a security system, and I'd like to get Sirrius radio since I have a lifetime subscription.

I can understand the LS not coming with this stuff since he really is for the track. But the regular Boss 302 needs to appeal to a broader customer base and most of those folks are going to want some options.

I'm #1 on the list at my dealer for getting a Boss 302, and it's months away before orders will be accepted, price has not be revealed yet and there is suppose to be some "secret" announcement about this car still yet to come. So I'll just have to wait and see.

Whammer...secret??? The introduction of 'Yellow Blaze' isn't probably secret material, is it?? :headscratch:

Amen to that brother! Not too many street racers ever wanted a piece of the ol' shotgun hemi. Those that did, didn't come back for seconds.

I've also already added my name to the list to purchase a 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca. Black with Red.

In line locally and keeping fingers crossed for the LS.

Would sell gt500 vert to fund and keep the gt350 when it arrives for the street mostly and use the LS mostly for the track. I have another conv for top down cruising.

I love the old school marketing of this car: throw your sh*t in the trunk, drive to the track, throw on a helmet (hans and harnesses), drive it hard for a weekend, load it up and drive it home.

I'd remove all oem decals (hood and sides) , paint the roof to match body, add a red color match "boss 302" decal on each side and leave the rear spoiler red.

As stated above, wheels are an easy fix.

Love it.
