Heading to Disney World!!

Recommended Posts

The ilmor's are on their way to Disney World!

As I type this, we have set up camp (we're traveling by motorhome) at the International RV Park in Daytona Beach, FL. We left yesterday at 4 am and camped in Enfield, NC last night. Tomorrow morning we'll head over to Orlando to set up camp at Disney's RV campground, Fort Wilderness.

It's been a long couple of days of driving. The girls have gone over to the pool and I'm having a cocktail and surfin' Team Shelby. :hysterical:

I don't really have any pics to post by I'll try to get a couple up here now and then. There is no wi-fi anywhere we'll be but I am able to tether w/ the iphone and get access.

We are w/in site of Daytona Speedway here...an awesome place!

edit - here's a photo of my current view....

Hey, do you think you'll get a chance to take the motor home out for a hot lap at Daytona? I'm sure it won't handle quite like the Shelby, but you could tell all your friends you ran the track at Daytona! :superhero:

Have fun at Disney!

I personally want to thank all of you Northeast folks for visiting Florida. Central Florida's economy and un-employment rate is much worse than the national average, so your visiting is greatly appreciated. As a note, if you have a chance there are two really nice car show / cruise in held every Friday and Saturday night at "Old Town" in Kissimmee, just off hwy 192, not far from Disney. Also, I think it's MGM studios that has the "Stunt Driver" attraction. This is the best thing I've ever seen at any theme park. Enjoy, have fun, and thanks for coming.

Enjoy the nice sunny weather, I'll be heading to Pensacola next week- I know it is off topic but how do you do the whole tethering thing off of the iphone :headscratch:

First you need to install the iphone 4.0 or later update on your iphone, you must have iTunes on the computer that you using to connect, then you sign up for the AT&T plan that includes the tethering (I did it online). Once you've done this, plug your iphone into your laptop w/ a USB cable (or you can use bluetooth), go to settings / general settings / network / tethering on your iphone, turn on tethering, wait about 30 seconds and youre connected to the internet.

Only drawback to the tethering plan - if you currently have unlimited data service, the tethering plan is 2 gigs / month and you can't return to the unlimited. So far the 2 gigs / month has been plenty for me.

The Stunt show at Disney Studios is VERY cool!! (not MGM anymore)

My wife and I go down about twice a year. Have been doing this since we started dating in 1993. We are waiting for Jacob to get just alittle older before we take him.

Have a great time. Make sure to eat at the Sci Fi theatre at Disney studios and the Prime Time Cafe. Good food and GREAT theme.

Speaking about marathons, yesterday was one...I have a pedometer and did over 16000 steps!! And it was HOT and HUMID. I grew up in FL and this is one thing I definitely dont miss!

We did Tomorrowland in the morning, came back to camp in the afternoon (to experience and awesome thunderstorm and tons of rain) and the back to the Magic Kingdom in the evening. It was more crowded at night. Space Mountain broke down yesterday so we'll try it another day. We had to skip a few rides because the lines were too long (anything over 20 minutes we say "forget it"!) But we have done several.

Today we are doing Typhoon Lagoon. We paid a little extra for a private cabana so we won't have to deal w/ the millions fighting for lounge chairs!!

My favorite is the people mover in tomorrow land. Made some of my best decisions while riding it. I was riding it one morning in july of 07 and decided to go ahead and buy the Shelby.

I usually go to one of the parks at least once a week.My wife says that I will mature one of these days......God, i hope not.

Our "Beachcomber Shack" we rented at Typhoon Lagoon was awesome, and worth every penny. We had an attendant, Bobbi, who was very friendly, and fast w/ the food and drinks! We always had shade. There was a locker, 6 chairs / lounges, two small tables, towels and an ice chest stocked w/ water. It was situated on a little "cove" next to the wave pool.

I think we decided that we're doing this again next year!

We spent most of our time between the wave pool and our shack, but tried out most everything else. We didn't make it to the newest thing, the crushing gusher, so I don't know what the heck that was.

Later that evening we went over to try and get on Space Mountain again...but it was broken again!! So, we came back to Fort Wilderness and hung out at Crockett's Tavern a little bit and played in the arcade.

Today we're getting up bright and early to hit Animal Kingdom. Because we're in a resort we can get in 1 hour ahead of the other folks.

I believe that I know someone who I think is the director of all the lifeguards at Typhoon Lagoon. Been to Disney twice, but sadly I never went to that park. :banghead:

I saw him the other day, he used to be a staff member at a Camp I work at. It was good seeing him again. :happy feet:

We made it back home safe and sound yesterday evening. Man what a workout that trip was! My knee is sore and we're all tired, and now the post-vacation recovery period begins. All in all, a great trip.

Next camping stop is New Hampshire Speedway for the NASCAR race! :shift:
