daveh70
Does the stock PSI gauge on the dash reflect the supercharger unit's activity on the 2008 Shelby GT500?

gassman
I was told is was a "dummy" gauge, not accurate as the autometers
sprint200
Does the stock PSI gauge on the dash reflect the supercharger unit's activity on the 2008 Shelby GT500? My understanding is that they are not analog mechanical readings, but rather inferred digital readings based on other inputs measured by the ECM. It's functional.
Justin00Stang
It's sort of functional, most of my customers that have analog gauges in the car have reported that the factory one measures boost before the car actually goes into boost. Often I've seen it indicate less boost on stock cars until the very end then it might peak at 9-10psi, when in reality the car runs 10psi from 3000 on up. I don't really trust it, for me it has not been an accurate indicator.
BIKEBOY
I dunno guys, seems a pointless gauge to me. I'm busy paying attention to the tach under serious acceleration. It seems more about WOW factor than anything else. IMHO.
shel-b001
I have my hands full just hanging on to the wheel & trying watch the tach & listen the beep , but did get a quick glance of the boost gauge not sure what it read.

BIKEBOY
I thought stock boost was 8? Awake...kinda lends to my point.....if we know what stock boost is, why need a gauge to show the thing spool up??? I know I can hear mine JUST FINE!!! :happy feet:

I know I can hear mine JUST FINE!!! :happy feet: Stock on ours should be 8.5 lbs of boost at max output. W/ the CAI, heard it gets up to 9. I've seen 9 on cold mornings, w/ WOT. I know I can hear mine JUST FINE!!! :happy feet: It's just a cute little reminder that our cars are supercharged. Boost on a supercharged car is fixed, more or less, unless something fails. Save the boost gauges for turbocharged cars with electronic boost controllers, where boost is adjustable, and can be dialed in for each individual gear as well as track conditions. Justin00Stang
Stock is about 9.5-10psi, CAI adds about .5-1psi, upper pulley results in about 12-13psi.
mullens
I agree highly inconsistent. My TVS never goes above 13.5 in the summer here in NV. I took a trip to San Diego and buried the gauge at 15psi every time. I don't know if it's the elevation or the heat here or a combination of both. chuckstang
boost gauge is good if you add more boost to your car
Justin00Stang
On the 2011s the boost gauge is even more interesting errr unreliable.
VNMOUS1
Autometer makes a nice mechanical one that runs about $75 and takes about an hour to install. The Cobalt line is a nifty blue that will exactly match your blue on your gauges, should you decide you like blue. bj
