frank bullitt
Does anyone have an idea on how much $$ to start and run a forum web. About 550 bucks. But then it has to shipped to Vegas for a few modifications, so add another 350-450 bucks for that. Then there is the associated ongoing licensing fees......ouch. Where do I sign up? I can pull off some VIN's from the internet/ebay to use. I like exclusive clubs. :happy feet:
2010KonaBlueGT
Does anyone have an idea on how much $$ to start and run a forum web. I own a forum that deals specifically with Harley-Davidson Twin-Cam motorcycles. At last count I had over 4500 members on the forum. Over time I have used (due to the evolution of differnt forum hosting companies) a number of different hosts. I think originally I used "Onelist.com" but it has evolved into Yahoo Groups. It is free and you have multiple options for moderation. You can use full moderation where *every* single post submitted need approval (with 4500 members, that is pretty much impossible), you can have "open membership" where no approval is required but that opens you up to some legal issues (Yahoo owns the content as soon as it is posted) or you can have it the way I do which requires me (or one of my two moderators) to approve membership (and which gives ME legal rights to all posted content), etc. etc. etc. I have people that hate Yahoogroups and will not join but it's a situation where 'you get what you pay for"....and it's free so take it for what it's worth. It's easy to set up a forum. I recommend you think long and think hard about what you want to name it because it's like a tattoo....once you name it, that's the name of it. Just to go yahoo.com and look for "groups" to get started. And just in case you search for my group, you will not find it as I put it so the only way to find it is by word of mouth (keeps the lookie-lews away). 2010KonaBlueGT
You are frigging killing me! On edit... Preacher? Yep, that's me. My Road Name is Preacher. "Twas Filthy Phill before that. I didn't look at the link....so I better check before I say *that* is me. But yes, I am Preacher (not sure if I'm the same one until I check). EDIT: On checking your link, yes, that is I. That was WAY back when I was very involved in Usenet Newsgroups. Good work finding that, Phill Pollard, a.k.a.
