I've read through the forum but wanted to get a few more opinions.. I recently waxed my car with the Turtle Wax ICE product.. It does go on easy and you can do the black plastic pieces and pretty much the whole car and wipe off easliy and no white residue BUT, to me, it does not seem to leave that slippery really waxed finish on the car nor does it last.

Anyone else using a product that they recommend?

Thanks for your suggestions. And oh, is ZYMOL really worth 175.00 for a jar of the concourse wax ?!?!??!

Zymol concours is the best all around that I have found. It is not inexpensive, but I have never used a wax that can beat it. They give it the name for a reason.

Without putting down any other brand....I use Meguiars NXT 2.0 Liquid. It is by far my most favorite wax ever in 20 years of waxing cars. I think it excels in all the important areas - ease of use, shine, protection, slickness, etc. I maintain the finish with Meguiars Ultimate detailer and Meguiars Ultimate quik wax.

As mentioned above..it's always important to prep the surface with at least a clay bar treatment.

and I would never buy any of those crazy priced waxes at over $100 a container.

I have used a lot of different waxes. I tried Zaino for the first time on my Shelby, it is very slick and has great shine. Does not leave white on the trim and comes off easy.

Also try the www.chemicalguys.com for a good deal on many things, as a matter of fact they relable several brands you buy. Adams is one of them and their products can be purchased much cheaper from the source.

I've had good luck with Meguiar's since 1995 when purchased my first Mustang. The Tech Wax 2.0 goes all really easy and wipes of easy with a micro fiber towel, it leaves that nice slick surface that you missed with ICE and lasts quite a long time. I use the Quick Detailer and also the my new favorite Ultimate Detailer when it's dusty or if it gets a bit rained on. Easy to find also at Target and even Wal-Mart.

I have a little bit of an addiction with buying and trying new detailing products. I have about $2000 worth of stuff in my cabinet right now and really haven't found much of a desire to keep using the super expensive stuff like DoDo Juice, Wolfgang Fuzion, Zymol Concourse, etc....

Some of the best stuff in my arsenal is made by Poorboys, Chemicals Guys, Adams Polishes and Optimum. For correction products, like polishes, compounds, finishing polishes and AIO's, I use most of Optimum's line. I also use Optimum Car Wax (spray wax) as my in-between details protection extender. For sealants I have found a great value in Chemical Guys M-Seal and Acrylic Blitz as an in-between protector. Both have amazing finish clarity and protection. Klasse also makes some OUTSTANDING sealants, but they are a little tufter to work with than the CG stuff and their AIO doesn't seem to last as long as advertised on daily drivers.

There are people that will say that the top shelf wax's and sealants ($100+) are worth every penny, but I can guarantee you that those people have taken the time and effort to properly prepare the finish that they are applying it to in order to get the results they claim. In my opinion, the finishing product is only as good as the prep and the prep is not product dependent, but technique dependent. In order to really get the benefit and value out of those super expensive toppers, you need to have the time to complete all of the needed correction. To the point of using lighting angles and techniques to spot every single flaw. Then applying prep products that will assist the topping products adhesion and finally, the right application quantity spread over the proper intervals. We're not talking the everyday detailer here, we're talking serious time and effort and probably a few days worth of work. I personally don't have that kind of time, so I do one serious detail a year (my serious detail is far beyond what most would consider), then consistent maintenance as much as possible. Since I don't drive my Shelby in bad weather and she'll only see about 2 or 3k miles a year, this is more than enough to keep her looking better than new with a wet mirror like finish.

Add me to the Meguiars NXT 2.0 camp. The stuff works great.

I agree w/ Mequiar's as the choice; not overpriced and holds up well w/ a nice shine.

The ICE Paste / Polish is much better. You can then follow up with one of the quick detailer sprays for the wet look and inbetween waxes / polishes to keep the shine.

i also am a hhuge maguiars fan.If yo go that route, use the Maguiars #7 mirror glaze product before waxing and after clay bar.The glaze gives lits od depth to the paint by cutting the UV reflections off the paint. And i use the ultimate detailer

Agree with everything he's said. I used NXT 2.0 as well and love it!

I appreciate all the suggestions..

So, I should remove all the old wax BEFORE new wax goes on? Also, do you CLAY BAR the stripes?!?

Thanks,

M.

Check your surface to see if you need to clay it and I would not clay the vinyl stripes. They are very soft can be marked up if not really carefull. Here is a link to the basics on car care. Although it is from Meguir's it applies to which ever product you use.

Like many on here I have an addiction to car care products. The wax I generally use is good but it doesn't quite have the wet look that I like so I'm about to try some NXT 2.0 paste I purchased a while ago. Yes I'm all about the surface prep and that's not the problem it's just the nature of this wax. It's great because it doesn't leave residue and doesn't stain any of the black trim.

Here is my question in regards to the NXT2.0, does it stain the black trim pieces and does it leave a lot of residue? I just want to know if I have to mask off all the trim pieces before waxing. I've been spoiled by not having to do it with the chemical guys wax.
