brian70068
I took my car to the track 3 weeks ago made a few passes and decided to lower the PSI on my 555rs. On my way home I noticed a clunking sound in the rear end . It only makes the noise when the rear end moves like taking off fast or going from first to reverse. If I take it easy I can get away without it clunking at all. I don't know if I want to bring it to the dealer for this because they haven't said anything about my mods when I had warranty work done. Does any one have an idea what's wrong.

I recently replaced my rear upper and lower contol arm bushings with a set of Prothane urethane bushings and am having the same problem as you. Secondo sent me a pair of Steeda anti-clunk washers to use to compensate for the 16mm mount and Fords 14mm bolt, but still getting clunk. I called Prothane tech support, but was flat out denied any assitance because they only make bushings for the S197 Mustang not a GT500. Thanks Prothane for standing behind your product. I will keep searching for a solution before putting the rubber bushings back on.

Mike Mine still look new, only 13+K miles on them. My mechanic had to use a hammer to tap Steeda's anti washers into the mount holes. What I'm thinking is the bushing that is attached above the differential. Thinking of changing only that one back to Ford rubber bushing and trying that first.
