Madlock
Has anyone successfully negotiated to choose their own seat insert accent color independent from the exterior stripe color? It seems the seat insert will match whatever the exterior stripe color happens to be, and any stripe delete forces the insert to revert to black (none). I'm not wild about the SVTPP stripes and am considering a Stripe Delete, but I'd also love to have the white inserts, even without an exterior stripe. Apart from de-striping a vehicle after delivery, has anyone successfully managed to accomplish this through their dealer, Ford, or Shelby? My situation is compounded in that my color of choice is Performance White and I'd like white seat inserts which aren't offered with with a White SVTPP vehicle. If there's any kind of magic decoder secret handshake that might allow this to be done, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
axo250
Nope. You can have it Ford's way. Unfortunately no deviations allowed from the order guide. I, too, would have liked to swap things around slightly, but it doesn't work that way. The dealer only gets to select from the same options we have in the order guides. I hate to start-off on the wrong foot like this. It's like my fist wife... cost me all sorts of extra money only to tell me I couldn't do as I pleased. And to rub salt into the wound, I can get ALMOST everything (BUT the supercharged performance) as I'd truly like it on the standard GT they're going to take apart to build the GT500. Thanks for the bad news.
davegt500
And theres another thing....The order form and "build your own" on the Ford website show lighted sill plates as a $220 option. They are std on Shelbys. There is a $195 option to have custom name on the plate. That is what the option is about....custom name on sill plate. Its not about having or not having lighted sill plates. I got this information from Ford customer service who got it from his "Brand Manager". Below is what I got including answer to the 9 weeks material hold my order is on: Lighted door sill are standard on GT500. They say SVT. There is an option through our parts department to order custom lit sill plates with the customer's name on them. That is the part that is $195. All GT500's show "material hold" until the dealer receives allocation for a GT500. There are no parts that are on hold, they just need to be manually scheduled once the dealer is alloted a GT500 for production as they are very limited. Torched10
an option is to ordere extra seat covers with the stripes you want.Another is to have a custom shop take out your current covers and add the stripe. My extra seat was around $600,just for one. Third is get a seat guy to just restain the stripe the color you want.Staining ehite might be a bear--Ive restained black vinyl seats in a GTO to white, but its not factory qualiet
davegt500
And Madlock, wait til you order and become a bonafide member of the Material Hold Wait Club. Its just plain ridiculous the way they do these Shelby orders. Hell, if Ford offered the 5.4 powertrain in a GT mustang I woulda got that and already be driving it. The Shelby flavor of it, the "Exclusivity and Collectors Value" theme is something I could easily do without especially if the car were say $15g's less! Personal opinion, of course. Powertrain wouldn't exist without CS.
cbr1000
I seem to recall a couple TS forum members negotiating a seat trade. Post-up and I'm guessing someone else is looking to to the same thing.
2010KonaBlueGT
I seem to recall a couple TS forum members negotiating a seat trade. Post-up and I'm guessing someone else is looking to to the same thing. Oh yeah, that's right. There was a guy that had a set of black insert seats and another that had a set of red stripe SVTPP seats coming on his '11. They were gonna trade until the "heated seat" possibility came to light (which turned out to be bunk). I'm not sure if they ever set the deal or not but yer right, if you can find the right person that has what you want and wants what you have..... Well, the rest is history.
