2011 Strut Brace Options

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm a first time and proud owner of a 2011 GT500 Convertible. Just picked her up a week ago. I had read where Ford had improved the cowl shake on the convertible models, which may be true, but it is still looser than I like. From what I can tell, any strut brace that fits a 2010 GT500 will work on a 2011 but would like confirmation about that. Also, what strut brace do you recommend? I'm looking at the FRPP M20201MSVTC and the Steeda STB83 but would consider others. Tell me what your experiences are please. Thanks.

I just have a view questions, if you don't mind? First, that is a BEAUTIFUL piece and looks much better than the brace that came with the Ford Racing suspension kit I have on my '10. But.... looking at the photos, it appears it's just set on the top of the strut studs? Perhaps you were just taking a picture before the install? And if it is just sitting there, it appears clearance over by the intake tube is REALLY tight? Do you have any close-ups of it installed? I have the TVS intake tube (the resonator eliminator) and it's VERY close over there but there is no rubbing. Yous looks so nice, I'd sell my brace and go with that one, I just want to see how close it is.

As for the OP's original questions- There's no difference between a '10 and an '11 with regard to fitment or dimensions.

Here's mine, but... yours would look fantastic on my car...

GO-SVT,

That picture was taken with the brace just lying in place. I was testing the fit for Chicane. joe is currently making new ends for me as it did have a fit issue over thr intake.

It does fit an 08 for sure. Check with CobraCV he has one on his Kona SS. I think he has pics in his gallery.

It's a nice strut bar for sure. Will he adj the kit accordingly after he modifies the fittings, I'm assuming so.

Seek,

What was the price on that beautiful piece carbon? I

About $450.00 shipped from CA-TX. It's not inexpensive but it is worth it and it only weighs a touch over 3 LBS.

Wow only 3 pounds? Do all the braces come with "CHICANE" printed on them?

No, Joe gives you the option of sticker on or off. There is a diiference in price of about $15-20. However, I wanted the Chicane Emblem.

Shoot him an e-mail, great guy!

  • 7 months later...

I emailed him actually a week before what happened about the strut bar. He told me that they were in the process of designing brackets for the ends of the 10-11 brace. Who knows if his great work will continue.

That is a beautiful piece! Jeez, I hate to ask, but what happened and will these still be available? I've never really considered adding a tower brace because I don't do any type of racing that

would require improved handling. But I especially don't want to add any weight to the front end. This, being only 3 lbs is a definite option.

Besides, do strut tower braces really improve the handling that much?

My FRPP STB that is made to fit the 2010+ is rubbing on the hood liner. Ive only had it on the car for 2 weeks and already its dulled the finish on the STB in the 2 spots where its rubs.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, mine rubs a bit but hard to notice unless you look for it.

Anybody know if there is ANY STOCK, ANYWHERE on that gorgeous carbon fiber strut tower brace that Joe was developing/selling... before his untimely death...

I didn't know Joe personally, but knew he was a great person and HUGE asset to our Mustang community. I would like nothing more than to have a small piece of his legacy attached to my car...

Thx

GUS

Ask and thou shall receive.

I just bought one.

****UPDATE - Tom emailed me vack after I purchased. This WILL NOT work on 2011 he told me. He said the blower is raised/higher on the 2011+

Really unfortunate

Wow.....what a shame....but I know he was working on fitment for the 11's before his passing. Maybe just needs the mounts raised to clear the SC. Maybe JLT's spacers would give the clearance needed.

That update does make me wonder tho.....what made the SC sit higher...diff motor mounts maybe? Certainly isn't anything between the SC and intake, and the SC design didn't change....

I know. I'm thinking the same thing; what changed? Aluminum block, so maybe they raised mounts.

Tom is the guy who had this eBay listing. He is currently on vacation, and I sent him a link to this thread and he might chime in soon!

higher mounts is the only plausible explanation...tho i cant see that either...i had an 07 and comparatively speaking, i dont see a diff in eng height...guess we'll see what Tom says..
