LS067
Will KR axlebacks fit as a direct swap out for the mufflers on my Shelby GT? Yes, I put them on mine. Shelby2809
I have them as well, install was interesting because I had to unbolt the muffler brackets to get them off, but they sound amazing. On downshifts the burble they make keeps me giggling like a little kid. I'm sure you'll enjoy them and good luck. Jim
Bob Kocon 2417
Thanks for the positive reviews. Can the swap be done in the driveway using a floor jack, or do I need a lift?
SteelTownStang
Yes. Just make sure you get the shorter 05-09 version: M-5230-S (the M-5230-SA are for the 10/11s). Easy install- Rhino Ramps, or similar, work best. The hardest part is centering the tips... If you can't adjust by the axle-back clamps alone, you can further adjust at the cat-back clamps. Good luck.
kahmann
Muffler swaps are usually pretty easy. You've literally got 2 bolts to loosen and re-tighten, unless the stockers don't cooperate. Sometimes it's easiest to pull the muffler clamps loose, then remove all of the 13mm muffler hanger bolts too. I wouldn't recommend making any adjustments anywhere else, since the clamps at the midpipes/x-pipe can become a source of never ending trouble, if you don't have the pipes where they ought to be, after you've tightened those clamps' bolts back up. After you tighten the new clamps in the back, check that the tips are centered. If not, push and or pull the mufflers with your hands to whichever direction they need to go. The hangers on the mufflers have a bit of give, so they'll bend into place pretty easily. Do NOT try this with a set of OEM SGT mufflers, however, since those hangers are only held on by a tack weld. Good luck Bob. Ken
07SGTC
What type of performance gains have you noticed with the KR Mufflers? Are you running headers? If so what type? Any info would be appreciated as I would like to change out the stock SGT mufflers for the KR's.
Poisnus
Hey Bob, it was great meeting you today. Did you get them on before dinner? Just kidding, let me know if you need anything and I hope you enjoy the mufflers. James

6-Speed
Thanks for the positive reviews. Can the swap be done in the driveway using a floor jack, or do I need a lift? Here's how I installed them on a GT500. I just drove the rear tires on to some home-made ramps that raised the rear about 5 inches. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/how-279/567552-how-i-installed-kr-mufflers.html
Shelby2809
Thanks for the positive reviews. Can the swap be done in the driveway using a floor jack, or do I need a lift? Garage floor is fine, I rolled my rear wheels up some ramps and had plenty of room. Good luck again, Jim

Good luck. M-5230-SA will not fit the 2011. I bought them hoping they would, but they do not. Selling them for $590 + shipping. They're brand new, never used. Will only fit the 2010. PM if interested.
07shelbygt
I just added these to my 07 SGT. They sound great and with the other mods I have done these mufflers are great. I would estimate about a 40% increase in the loudness. Other mods included: 62 mm Ford Racing throttle body, Ford Racing 3V intake manifold, Ford Racing hot rod cams, Ford Racing shorty headers and Magnaflow mid-pipe. I was a little worried about the smaller tips on these mufflers but after a couple of weeks I cannot really notice a difference. I haven't gotten the final dyno results as they aren't done with the new tune from these mods but it seems to be quicker, better throttle response and a lot more torque. Bob Kocon 2417
I put them on Monday evening, but haven't really had the chance to try them out as it started to rain just before I finished. I will probably get to see how they sound this evening.

Any photos of your Ford Racing intake manifold? Does the stock SGT strut brace clear the new FRP intake manifold? What do you think of the Hot Rod Cams? Any streetability problems at idle or otherwise? Thanks in advance for any input s I'm thinking of the same mods, with the possible addition of the FRP ported heads. kc

No the SGT strut brace will not clear it. Love the Hot Rod Cams... I had them installed about 6 months ago before I did everything else. No streetability problems or anything. The only difference is that it was louder and faster. However, the car does rock back and forth when it is idling at a stop light.

I'm wondering whether the Bullitt/V6 brace might be an alternative with its slightly taller clearance. Thanks again - a big help. Kevin

I have all my work done at Quantum Performance here in Dallas. They looked at it six ways to Sunday. Only option is to fabricate one that either goes behind or in front of the manifold. nojoke4true
Stupid question. How do I get the KR mufflers but keep the stock tips and hide the roundness of KR mufflers from showing? I know im asking for too much but I really like the way the stock tips dominate and differentiate the rear of the car.

gtup1
Stupid question. How do I get the KR mufflers but keep the stock tips and hide the roundness of KR mufflers from showing? I know im asking for too much but I really like the way the stock tips dominate and differentiate the rear of the car. I liked the larger tips also. I looked at the Shelby tips from the Shelby store but they don"t give a diameter, thought about slipping them over and tacking in place. I used a can of high temp flat black paint and sprayed my mufflers before I installed. It makes the mufflers blend more with the black valance and the plastic cover under the back. A lot less noticeable. As with everyone else I do love the sound. I need to do some more adjusting though. I took a trip to Pgh right after I installed, I hit u huge bump on the Indiana turnpike and the passenger side started vibrating off the chassis. A dealer in Beachwood Ohio took care of the vibration but now the driver side looks like it's about an inch lower. I have been traveling so much for work I haven't had time to work on. nojoke4true
Good to know that I am not the only one who wants to retain the stock tips. That was smart painting your mufflers black....it 's something I will have to consider if I want to get that KR sound. Altough upon starting up cold she does sound quite good. Now if I just keep that cold waking the neighborhood up idle (kinda like my harley f150) I'd be a happy man. So good luck with KR mufflers. Wouldn't mind seeing a sound clip or pic's.
