Ezkill
Does anyone know the fee dealers pay to Ford to sell GT500s? Is this fee annual or semi-annual? *IF* I remember right, it was 1000.00 dollars to get one guaranteed 2010 and 2011 allocation. Don't take that as gospel but I believe that's correct. JonathanE
just wondering, why would a dealer need to pay a fee? It's still a ford built car from the same line as the other mustangs correct? I do understand it's a limited production of sorts but still.
Michael Morris
Its a 1000 dollars a YEAR. Its guarntees ONE allocation a year. So if we get more than one allocation its cheaper per car. Its NOT per car!! The charge is for the advertising materials and such. But we all know its just away to make an extra grand per dealer!! Its Ford charging the dealers a DOC FEE!!! ingram4868
That sounds a lot better than the old SVT dealer certification program.
bpmurr
Thanks for the info. The reason why I asked is because I might be trading my 2010 for a 2011 and my dealer was telling me it was $2k a year they pay. Which seemed high to me. I just want to make sure that I know all the facts walking into the situation. Right now they have an allocation of two. One they just sold and one that is spec'd exactly like my 2010. He would be selling it to me at his cost.

PistolWhip
Dam a hair UNDER $46k? That's a heck of a deal, are you on top of your 10 or upside down? How much are they talking about giving you in a trade for the 10?

How much are they talking about giving you in a trade for the 10? $40-42k, I owe $35k This is not a money making deal for the dealer. Just a customer satisfaction thing given the issues I've had with the car. Keep in mind I've just lost a year worth of payments so I'm still taking a hit. I'm not sure if it will even happen. Just exploring the idea. I'm also looking at a Plum Crazy SRT8 Challenger.
kpevin
Wow, you must have a nice dealer. For the heck of it I stopped at a local dealer with a 2011 coupe just for the heck of it. My car had 1250 miles on it at the time and they offered me 42K for mine and sticker on the coupe he was selling, mine has HID, Electronics package and cover. shelbynuts
Guys!!!!! I traded my 10 in 2 weeks ago for 42k. It had 1300 miles on it. I owed 31,500 and was offered 43 from 2 other dealerships! I just couldn't turn my back on my original dealer. Even at 1000 bucks less. BUT! I got my car on the x plan last yr and this yr the dealers are sayin yes and no on this plan. Seems to be up in the air???? I think with all the talk about how much dealers are paying to have a car on their lot (even if there are incentives), my dealer says just over invoice! SOOO! If you are getting at cost (?????real invoice) with all the bells and whistles (I did) the car would be about 55-57k. Not sure if this is so great since my car was 54 and some change! NOT the same as the x plan nor just over invoice. I seems to me that it would be low 40's for the dealership to obtain an 11'. You get the picture. The x plan is out for a good reason. And what about dealer hold backs? If these are not applicable, even if it costs 1000 bucks or less to have this on their lots look at the selling price, plus what is gotten for the trade in. This is a hot item, even if only few can afford. I bought this yrs knowing I would be working some extra hrs. To me it is worth the new up-grades and I worked some extras in with the dealer at no extra cost! I wonder why?
dbrisson
Do not try a Challenger unless you really want to have a car with problems and no dealer support. I had a SRT8 Cherokee that was a nightmare, 32k and trans and transfer case exploded, so many electrical gremlins the the dealler could not fix. It was so bad that when the low fuel chime would go off you would look at the gauge in panic of the next weird alarm, Service 4wd, service park assist, trans temp high. The newer models have uconnect issues, and 6speed issue out of the box, many still havent been tsb'd for crank sensor issues and idle problems that plaque the six speed cars. Unless its 50% off run away from chrysler - dodge. In the total of 3 years of ownership: 2 warped rear rotors at 10k, fought with 2 dealers, lost, $200 I installed new ones Transmission rebuilt, not replaced (because the NAG 1 trans is hard to find) trans and transfer case at 32K only to have the TCase failure happen again at 48k under new owner ( tracked the forums to find who bought my car from the dealer i traded it to) Service TCM and limp mode, but the dealer couldn't replicate, (known shifter problem on the forums was the only fix) but the dealer had to see the code, when it finally stayed lit they replaced the shift but shorted the tcm which handles the tire pressure monitors, another 4 trips to the dealer for 4 tires pressure sensors (not the prob), a tcm (still not the prob) and a pcm (part of the prob) but I had to open the shifter and find the loose connection because it would still alarm chime every 15 - 20 mins with tpms fault and service trans. Water pump failure and overheat leaky thermostat housing 2 sets of Good year run flats due to tread separation Plus a few more issues and leaks I am forgetting. Around our area the only 2 servicing dealers are Len stoler and Century in Mt Airy. Century is a complete joke, would get a lawn moer service there, Len stoler is not much better, and if you didnt buy there you will hear every excuse to add on to the bill. I have not been on in a while, but I now have 17k with the same mods as your car, I havent notice any issues, but I havent pushed it bvery hard. I do clutch the decel down shifts alot and was wondering if sliding it in to a downshift is worse then the letting the clutch out faster and having the trans pull the engine revs up on decel. Again, Dodge / Jeep SRT bad news, plus they are a pig in weight and power, they look nice, but have a second home at in the service bay.

Sorry to hear all your issues, but I just traded my 2008 Jeep SRT8 on my 2011 GT500 SVTPP. In the 3 years and 48K miles that I had it the Jeep was fast AND bulletproof - none of the issues you mention. A few random / intermittent problems with the myGiG nav/radio but even here most of these went away after the firmware was re-flashed. So I wouldn't paint the SRT8s with too broad a brush, maybe you happened to get a lemon. BTW the only reason to trade the Jeep is my philosophy of "too many cars, too little time" - i.e. it was a great 3 years, but time to move on...
