UNK Changes ??

While reviewing the car and the diff features employed noticing the changes from my 07, i found a few things i dont understand...maybe the group can enlighten...

 

first is the second plug connection which is attached to the outside of the heat shield. it is actually a link to the maf sensor wire which is now positioned on the outside of the maf tube. not sure why they went with a second connection..any ideas..

 

and secondly...the new hole bored into the plenum, which has a tube that runs down and towards the back of the car. also attached to this plenum fixture is an electrical lead which is mounted on top of the valve cover....any ideas...new evap system maybe. this electrical device is also on the other side valve cover....possibly part of the knock sensor system...

I'm still try figure out exactly what you asked...and I doubt I'm alone.

 

 

thx...its simple really...

 

1. why the additional male/female plug connection inline with the MAF sensor wire. (thats what it connects to). Why not just one long continuous wire like the older models.

 

2. Why the larger hole in the plenum which directs a larger tube from the plenum down to the rear of the car? New evap system? Plus the electrical square item bolted to the valve cover is part of that system...what is it and for....
