New wheels and tires on the 2010

With the wheel hop under control thanks to a Rouch UCA and FRRP springs it was time for some traction. I ordered custom one piece forged wheels from CCW aka Complete Custom Wheel. Model C10 18X9.5 front with Toyo Proxi 4 255x40x18 and Toyo Proxi TQ 315x35x18 DR's on 18x11 rims. Rims were powder coated gun metal gray. Fit very good with no modifications. Hopefully get her to the drag strip soon so she can strut her stuff.

Thanks very much man. I have been trying forever to find out how big a set of tires I can put on a 2010 given one was willing to buy new wheels with no/minimal mods. This is a big help.

Do you think your wheels and tires would fit a 2010 without the UCA and spring upgrades you mention?

Thanks again.

Yes, no problems.

Any particular reason you went with the 255-40-18 in the front versus the 255-45-18? The 255-40 is around an inch smaller than stock.

How is the traction now? Can you get rolling in first, nail it and actually hook up now?

I am now just starting to push my 2011 a little and last night gave it hell in first gear at about 10mph with the TC on and it just spun.

Because the rear is an inch shorter also. A taller front than rear tire would look bad. These tires are new and need a burnout to work properly. On the street I tried them out and they help alot but I still have to feather 1st gear and short shift it a little. It spins less on the 1-2 shift now and then hooks which it did not before. I can physically feel the improved accelleration. With a healthy burnout I would expect these to hold first with a slight feather/slip out of the hole. I am running 27psi for the street, on the track you start at 17psi and go up or down depending on results.

Not necessarily. These are BIG cars and by going an inch smaller in overall diameter gave you a huge gap between your tire and fender, thus giving the appearance of a wheel/tire that's too small for the car.

The good news is you have an awesome wheel and tires can easily be changed if your in the mood for something different.

Also: Why only 255s for the 9.5"? :headscratch:

Two reasons, I don't road race and I don't need the extra weight. If you don't over drive the 255's why would you want to go wider?

It's a GT500...it's all about excess.

And since it's a GT500, you already have the extra weight.

Thats a good one :hysterical: Yeah, that's like telling a fat person, hey you're already fat go ahead and eat that cheese burger.

Thanks! I love the wheels and am seriously considering them. CCW recommended going 18x10 in front with a 275 and 18x11 rear with 315s.

Mj

Yeah, if you are going to auto-x or road race the 275 front is a good choice or if you just want a wider front tire for the heck of it.
