twitch43
Hey guys, I'm having my stripes painted and when it's done, I need to restick my SHELBY letters back onto my trunk. Anyone have any good ideas of a cleaning solvent besides alcohol? I'd like the surface to be really clean so they don't fall off. Any ideas would be apreciated. kahmann
I used Goo-Gone on my trunk, after the 'Y' fell off awhile back. I stuck it back on with some fresh 3M tape and haven't had any trouble with it since.
jmn444
being fresh paint it will already be free of any wax residue or anything real bad for adhesion, but the paint shop prob has some quick drying precleaner to wipe it down with too. Laurence Thanks for the replies guys. Laurence, Yes, I'm having the stripes painted silver. My paint guy was able to match the stripes to an existing Ford color. Graphic-Express.com changed its recommendation from alcohol to naptha. Works good and fast-dries. G-E tells you to clean ten times and use ten different rags on previously waxed surfaces, but a new one should be clean after three or four, I think. ShowCar
3M makes a adhesive remover that removes glue and leaves the surface clean for new decal installation. It removes wax too. Its not cheap but it works great. I use it all the time.
