HEY GUYS & GALS,

JUST WANTED TO SUGGEST A POSSIBLE DRIVE TO WHISTLER, BC. THE WEEKEND OF AUGUST 7-8. THE WIFE AND I HAVING BEEN GOING TO WHISTLER FOR 18 YEARS AND JUST GOT HOME. ITS A GREAT DRIVE AND A LOT OF FUN. AS ALL OF US ARE AWARE, THE OLYMPICS WERE JUST HELD IN WHISTLER AND THERE ARE SOME GREAT SITES TO SEE. YOU WILL NEED A PASSPORT OR INHANCED DRIVERS LICENSE TO GET ACROSS THE BORDER.

FIRST, THE ROADS AND THE DRIVE ARE ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVEABLE. THEY HAVE WIDENED THE ROADS TO 4 LANES WHICH ARE LIKE GLASS, HAVE SOME GREAT STRAIGHT AWAYS (IF YOU NOW WHAT I MEAN  ) AND NICE FUN CURVES FOR CORNERING :shift: . THE VIEWS ARE BREATH TAKING WITH GREAT PHOTO OPTS :camera: FOR THOSE WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED.

SECOND, ALL THE DAY LOTS ARE NOW PAVED AND HAVE TONS OF ROOM FOR SAFE FREE PARKING. THERE ARE PLENTY OF GREAT RESTURAUNTS TO PLEASE TO PALLET AND A VARIETY OF QUAINT SHOPS FOR SHOPPING :happy feet: .

THIRD, YOU COULD DO IT IN ONE DAY BUT IT WOULD BE LONG DRIVE. I WOULD SUGGEST STAYING IN SQUAMISH WHICH IS A SMALL TOWN WITH SOME NICE MOTELS COMING BACK DOWN THE MOUNTAIN FROM WHISTLER.

SO, WE COULD ALL MEET ALONG I-5, DRIVE UP TO THE BORDER CROSSING AT SURREY WHICH IS RIGHT OFF I-5. CROSS THE BORDER THROUGHT SURREY WHICH IS THE QUICKEST WAY, HAVE LITERALLY A STRAIGHT SHOT ON A NEW 4 LANE ROAD TO HIGHWAY 1, GET ON HIGHWAY 1 AND ITS ALL OUT TO WHISTLER  . GREAT GREAT ROADS ALL THE WAY.

IFANYONE IS INTERESTED JUST START POSTING AND LETS SEEE WHAT HAPPENS. I THINK THIS WOULD BE A MEMORABLE DRIVE FOR ALL OF US.

Unfortunately for us, this is the same weekend as the Sleepy Hollow Rod Run in Sechelt (Sunshine Coast). It is a three-day weekend...starting with a 400-car Friday night cruise and corn on the cob roast. Next morning is the huge Car Show in downtown Sechelt, followed by a Sunshine Coast Mustang gathering...and then back over to the banquet dinner. On Sunday, we continue up the Coast to the Garden Bay Show & Shine ( which is very quaint)' then back home. It is truly the weekend of the year! My wife and I leave the girls at home and make this our Anniversary weekend together...staying at a really great B&B and enjoying ourselves and friends. This will be our third year in a row.

Your Whistler cruise sounds fantastic. Perhaps you'll consider a Fall follow-up cruise there...?
