I Have A Born-On-Date

Greetings,

I have been reading, posting a few times and enjoying this site since June. Great place to hang out, learn a few things, share stories and get crazy about the car we all have in common. A little weird stuff over weekend…..but as in any family, you get some crazy sh- - once in a while.

I learned today that my GO Vert has a born-on-date!!! “Vehicle will be off line Friday February 2nd….time is yet to be determined”. Now I’m totally psyched, had a tough time staying focused at the office today!!

OK, whats your opinion……is Friday a good day to have your car built??....sounds like a great day to me!!

Since most of the components have already been built, the Friday issue doesn't really enter the picture. I have also been told that the mustangs take over 20 hours to make it through the production line, so it probably spans a couple of days' shifts. I wouldn't worry too much, I have had mine for about a month and 800 miles, and have absolutely no issues. And I am kinda observant about that kind of stuff.

take care, and good luck with the wait

John

My car was built on Friday also. I found 2 problems:

1. A loud popping noise in the front end when I back up.

2. The right rear rock guard was not installed.

DOH! Its incredible that it could make it all the way out of the factory and no one noticed the rock guard was missing....

Have you been able to get this stuff fixed?

There have been several instances of very strange problems that I can't believe escaped QC:

- Stripes not being applied over the rear bumper

- Cobra insignia missing from streering wheel

- Traction Control switch missing (This one blew me away)

- Leaking raditor hoses

My right front headlight assembly only had one of three bolts installed. I think they must be installed before the bumper cover because they were a #$%@^ to install, I noticed this with the hood open and I bumped into the headlight and thought it was going to fall off. Dealership ordered the correct bolts no problem.

I worked a summer at Ford on the line years ago. The cars you don't want are usually built on Monday. Fill in workers for the Hungover ones that don't show up after a weekend of partying. :beerchug: :elefant: :tequila:

Everyone was happy on Friday day shift, last day of week. :banana piano: Friday night shift a whole different story! :woohoo:

Congrats GrabberO! I'm in your boat too, just found out my is set for Feb 12th. :hyper:

Its been a long road for us but coming to an end soon! (put my deposit down Sept 2005).

Thanks for all the comments....

I put my deposit down on April 28, 2005. It has been a long haul!!!!

As a kid working summers in the family business, I would make deliveries at a Ford foundry and engine plant....... and yes, Mondays were very scary!!

RUF, not sure if this describes your problem, but the loud pop in the front end is normal IF IT'S ONLY ONE TIME WHEN BACKING UP EACH TIME THE CAR IS STARTED, which means it's the anti-lock brakes. If it's more than that one time...then likely something else.

Have you had the dealer look at it? What was it? A can of Cheez Whiz in the strut? :hysterical:
