BIKEBOY
OK...my car and autographed plaque/sill plate pkg. is now 3 yrs. old. I of course installed the plaque right away. Now, to my sadness, as I failed to clear-coat it prior to installation...which is another topic alltogether. Today, I am inquiring if anyone has a simple way of removing the 'SVT' inserts easily, without damaging them, to replace with the supplied SHELBY GT500 billet plates? I was thinking of using the same technique I used to remove the decklid S H E L B Y letters. Fishing line. Drag very lightly underneath, all the while sliding from side to side to essentially cut the 3M tape behind it. ( I did this to spread out the decklid letters, like the KR ). Anyone tried this method, or something similar to install the sill plates? Frankly, my wife wants me to leave them off the car, and save them as 'memorabilia' in a box!!!? Right! Sherri Leicht
go to your Ford dealer and get to new sill pieces and install the Shelby plates on them. When I bought mine they were about 30$ each.

I used the fishing line method for these and had great success. Just take your time and be patient. I removed the plastic sills and it made it way easier to do the surgery. SteelTownStang
Thanks everyone that answered! I'll go with the fishing line method for sure. Bikeboy Here's a link to my thread: http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?/topic/56259-pics-painted-shelby-gt500-sill-plates/page__p__959278__hl__sill%20plates__fromsearch__1entry959278 . There is a pic of the sill panel w/o the plate. I used some plastic paint scrapers to lift the edge and then slid 10 lb. fishing line under the plate to cut through the tape. The removal process was actually very easy as both SVT plates came off without damage.
