90GT
07 GT on Ebay Whipple supercharged. FRPP Handling package, Hurst Shifter, FR500 Wheels, CDC Front chin spoiler, GT appearance package, FRPP rear black out panel. Has a few other accessories too. I like the clean look, not to over done but just right. Love the rear black out with the FR500 badge, blacked out side skirts and lower part of the rear bumper. Wheels look hot too. Price is a little steep at $46,629.00 but I'm sure that's negotiable. Overall a nice car, very well done IMO.
moabman
I love this! Take away the appearance package and this is where I'm going with my Mustang. I expected the handling package to lower the car more. BTW that's the low boost charger - no intercooler. Think I'm going with the intercooler because it gets hotter-n-hell down here in the summer. Easier on the engine even if I pulley up to restrict the boost to about 5 psi.
FordEvangelist
I agree, this is a good approach to the Mustang but there's some serious markup on this - you can do this yourself for $7-$10K cheaper. I've barely crossed teh $40K mark on my car and that includes an almost complete suspension changeout, custom rims, tires, shifter, etc and the Whipple HO (intercooled + GT500 fuel pumps) kit. Er... that's a real big decal on the side there .. 8-]
moabman
For me - no decal, no scoops, no body mods. I want it as stock looking as I can get
RUFDRAFT
Yeah, Daddy! I've got $34k in mine. Stealth is good. Less is more.
mikspny
The FR500 badging really bugs me....this car is nothing like one, under the hood or otherwise. This is a pet peve I have in the Mustang world. Just like slathering Shelby decals all over a non Shelby.
moabman
Know what you mean but look to Ford. On page 23, they spec out a FR500 (Not FR500c). The FR500 is a GT with the following added: Super Pack (Whipple hi-boost supercharger) Handling Pack FR500c front brakes Race Rear Brake Pads Ford Racing Race Seat Ford Racing Safety Harness Performance Panhard Kit Performance Radiator Driveshift Safety Loops Aluminumaxle girdle Torsen Differential Hi Flow Headers Performance X-pipe Ford Racing Mufflers
mikspny
so you are telling me that the pretty GT has all that? The seat and harness etc, and so on? I don't think so.
moabman
No - It certainly didn't. They added a part that wasn't listed - the Mustang styling pack which had the part with the FR500 badging although it doesn't show that way on in the catalog ( Page 27 of the FRPP 2007 performance parts catalog). As Ruf and I have been talking about - we think less is more in the badging department. I've got a GT that I'm modifying and it will remain a GT - a very fast GT
mikspny
Ya wanna race?
moabman
Let me get the blower, suspension, and the brakes installed then sure - we can throw them around a few curves Hmmm I wonder if they will rent me a FR500c? Now that would be fun :happy feet:
mikspny
No blower. You're a hot driver...you don't need a blower. You can get an FR500C on ebay right now. They want $100K, it is a grand am car been raced 7 times (well now 8 since it raced this last weekend) the car is owned by Blackforest Mortorsports in Florida. Or you can get a FR500C in Salt Lake City. Only car of the 25 made that has not been raced. Comes with a bunch of extras for a minor $135K. Both of these guys are holding out for a "collector" it seems. They both thougth that is what I was (being a girl and all) Blackforest invited me out to check out the shop....how cool it that? I will probably go, but I'll have to leave my checkbook home! Going to Salt Lake to Miller Motorsports Park to look at their school cars and maybe sneak a peak at their FR. NICE people. mikspny
I see you did the upper control arms. Why? did you notice a diff? About to change all the bushings and we are talking about the control arms. You need a roll bar...
moabman
If I was really going to campaign one - I would just go to Tommy Vaughn and offer them $90K cash and I think I could have that FR500c that I photographed acouple of weeks ago. BTW I don't think it has been raced yet. I'm also not serious about flinging a premium trim convertible around a track for any other reason except fun (NA or blown). Another thing I like about the FR500c is the cable between the pedal and the throttle. I'm still open to be convinced but I'm not a big fan of the drive by wire system so far. BlackForest had a very good weekend. Did you find out what happened to the Rolex Cobra GT? They spent about 30 laps in the pit. I like what you've done with your GT. How much does it weigh? What does the Dyno say?
mikspny
Really if I had all the money I wanted I would get a car like yours...I saw one in all white with tan pin striping and tan leather interior...unbelievable and it would never see the track. Yes, I did see the FR you posted and good point on the racing stats for that car. I did watch the Rolex...much to my families dismay and I do not know what the scoop was. Frankly...probably the blower. That is the last thing I would do for an enduro. I really do not know what I'm talking about here but it just does not make sense. I will call BF later next week and ask...too soon to ask now. Enduros is what I would like to do and to just even think of my Shelby in such a scenerio is foolish in the fuel economy, a big factor for pit time. Thank you for your compliments...the car weighs, probably 3300 lbs. I've had the car at 3400 and since removing more stuff (nothing less to be removed) that is the weight I'm guessing. It will get scaled and balanced, again in three weeks. On a Mustang Dyno (very conservative) the car is 289 at the wheels. When I see dyno numbers on these cars, in the Mustang Mags, getting way more HP with way less mods it drives me nuts. I'd rather read SCCA or Grassroots motorsports! ratnacage
When I see dyno numbers on these cars, in the Mustang Mags, getting way more HP with way less mods it drives me nuts. I'd rather read SCCA or Grassroots motorsports! Don't feel bad. Take dyno claims with a grain of salt (or a whole salt-lick). Consider that dyno numbers can vary wildly - are they quoting SAE, Std, or no correction? Mustang dyno, DynoJet, other? Was it tuned on race gas, 93 or 91? Did the tuner know what he was doing? The variables are staggering. At the end of the day, all that matters is who crosses the finish line first!!

mikspny
So where are you letting that pony run in your avatar? Laguna Seca, :hyper: my best time of the day was 1:50...not great on the grand scheme of things but it was consistent. Other cars in my class (track records) were 1:47. So I'm smiling. Really pushed the Pilot Sport Cups to their max. Freinds keep telling me it's slick time! It was a bad mental day. Really the first day I realized how much a factor "mental" is in driving like that. moabman
Laguna Seca! That's hallowed ground. Did you like the video of the vintage Boss 302 driving on the road course at the FRPP site?
mikspny
Mark, I will go check out the video, I have not seen it! Must be on Laguna!! We have access to great tracks out here...Sears Point, Thunderhill, Reno/Fernley, Buttonwillow (have not been there) and others south and some in Oregon. Miller Motorsports in Salt Lake (a days drive). Have my ARC racing license getting my SCCA in March and NASA before the year is out. I love the learning and have gotten enough taste for the racing I find myself pining away for driving....fast...smooth....smart and competitive like nothing else!! If I was as competitive in business as I feel in driving I would be a gajillionaire.
moabman
It's on the front page here: FRPP site It's the test drive video. Choice road scenes! It was filmed at Gratton Raceway but it would have been better at Laguna....
