Anyones stock S/C belt slipping.

Have had a couple of experiences at @ 5500 RPM of a slight loss of power on the road. Had my car tuned and did two runs on the dyno and the first run it slips once. The second run it slipped a couple of times and you can see the slight dips on the graph. No huge loss but all the more reason for me to do the pulley with idler arm. Anyone else having any issues at high RPM's?

Can you hear it when it slips? Or, can you only feel it and see it on the graph?

I haven't been able to drive mine due to weather, but would like to know what to look for when it warms back up.

No you cant hear it you can only feel it. I only felt it a couple of times prior to my tune. Its just a slight loss of power at very high revs. I have not felt it slip since my tune was installed (And I have been driving pretty hard since last Thursday) except when it slipped on the dyno. One of the techs even wiped off some belt dust after the second run that collected on something under the hood next to the blower.

Hrtattack1 I see no stripes. Good choice of color :happy feet:

Even though the SC belt on the Shelby has more ribs than my Terminator, it still slips. On mine, the power loss is what gives it away and it's especially noticeable now that I'm pushing 550 at the wheels. The feeling is that the car is pushing really hard, and then you feel a slight "hesitation" as though your timing is off. Imagine that you're at full throttle and then you ever so lightly tap the break pedal; that's what it feels like too. Solution for me, I hope, is to install the Metco idler assembly. I already bought it and found that you can save 20 bucks going directly through Metco, rather than through one of these other "we know everything there is to know about the Shelby" outfits; they're simply retailers that wouldn't know a CNC machine from their left foot. I hope to install it soon, but the whether has been horrible and it just doesn't get me in the mood to work on the car; even though the install is probably only 20 minutes of work. For those that don't think you're slipping, trust me, you most likely are a little now (if you're stock), and you DEFINITELY will if you go with a smaller pulley and stronger tune.

Good to hear from the Ford Geek. You described the slip perfectly. Had me very concerned when I first felt it and did not know what it was. I had the Metco idler in my hand last week and if more people are having this problem I will be changing the stock pulley sooner than later.

Hi 06. Are you still having the problem with the Metco idler? And is it that bad you would go back to the stock pulley? I'm going with the EVO stage 2, so it would be very helpful for me to know what to expect when I get the kit. thanks.

My bad Keith. The only mod I have on now is the JLT intake. My pulley and belt are completly stock. Its my stock set up thats slipping.

When I said I had the Metco parts in hand I was just checking them out. But I will be adding them in the near future.

Bad, NEVER. 06 I had a 04 term with a 2.8 pulley, I never had a slippage prob, as for the stock Shelby, I don't recall having the prob explained above, I wonder how many other people noticed this prob on their Shelby's. Good luck with it 06.

Hey Guys,

Just out of curiousity...on some of the Terminators, when you had belt slip, you could also here a dip in the "whine" of the blower. Do you happen to be noticing any of that on the GT500's as well?

Not really. Mine has slipped about 4 times now. The slip in not real bad. If you knew what you were listening for you might hear a change in the blower whine but mine is so minor that it just causing minor loss in power.

I bet this will happen with more people in time since mine slipped twice while the car was totally stock.

Both my terminator and Shelby are so freakin loud, I wouldn't be able to tell you if the SC whine dissipates a bit or not. By the way, I do have a little belt slippage on my terminator, but it's so unoticable I've never bothered to fix it. For some reason you can really feel it in the Shelby. You could blame it on the air/fuel ratio, but the log in my tuner doesn't indicate any spikes or valleys; pretty stable. Ditto on the fuel injector efficiency - running well below capacity. Further, it doesn't always happen at the same rpm; although it tends to show up after 4,000 rpm when the horse is really digging in. Weird.
