GT06
I would like the opinion of this forum as to what will be considered a rare shelby in the years to come with regard to bodystyle, color ,options , etc. I am new to this group and very impressed with the knowledge and information you all possess! IMO the verts seem to be about 15-20%of total production. Tungsten gray and alloy seem to be rare colors. I have yet to see a car listed for sale that does not have the interior upgrade as an optoin. How many 07's will have the Nav. system? What do you guys think?
shelbyGT500
I can already answer that. I know for a FACT that the most rare car is white with grey stripes. I would bet my house on that. I have only seen 1 in existance.Im sure there are more but not many more.I actually was in the process to buy it but it was sold out from under me.Somehwre in Alabama This color combo was and is my favorite too. I really wanted it but settled for black /tungen. Tell ya the truth, If i had to do it all over again, I would still get the white and grey. and second choice would still be the black/grey

IMO - I think it will be a Red convertible with the crimson red interior all options with the satin silver stripes & the 40th Anniversary package or the performance white with tungsten stripes & the crimson red interior all options & the 40th Anniversary package. kaylan1521
I would have to agree White/Tungsten stripes. Funny though, I didn't like that combo on thr GT500 but I love them on the GT

06ragtopGT
Beautiful car kayjay! If only you did'nt get the interior upgrade and had the nav system you might be one of one. Anyone have a red coupe with tungsten? I have seen the vert in this combo for sale on ebay but no coupe . Its satin silver on a red car (still rare) . No tungsten stripe option on a red car. If you want a 1 of 1 car get a white car with tungsten over the top stripes with the lower rocker stripe deleted.
LSR
The rarest Shelby GT500's are the 3 to 4 cars that are colors that was pulled at the last minute. Colors were Wind Devil Blue, Yellow, and Lime Green. Here are pictures of the yellow which I was told that three were released, the Wind Devil Blue is in JDM's possession were they are testing a whipple charger and the Lime Green is ? I have video of the Lime Green which is pretty cool going into Ford's engine test facility. Lime_Green_GT500.wmv Lime_Green_GT500.wmv

I'm surprised we haven't heard of any special-order '500s -- if you're willing to wait, Ford will usually paint any car with any color available in that plant. If I was a collector, I'd wait a full production cycle for a special color (and as far as value goes, history seems to show that the more unuaual the color, the more valuable it will be -- really, as long as the paperwork to document it is preserved. Do Mazda's come in some funky color unique to Mazda? That'd be my pic (for collector value).

ratnacage
Is it me or are the stripes on that yellow car not per final production spec around the hood vents? I'll bet that one fetches some $$$.
txlaw
I am always amused at Barrett-Jackson when a car goes across the block and they say it is one of only 150 or 12 or whatever. Many many times what that really means is only 12 people ever wanted one that color or with those options. In other words it was not desirable then so why would it be now. Many times looking at these rare (only rare options or colors) it is easy to see why they only built 12 when you could order them the way you wanted. Just my thoughts. Black Sunshine
I think it was on mustangheaven.com a while back (before I found this site :D) where I read that they built 28 total test model GT500s (14 verts and 14 coupes) and that these were to be crushed afterwards. I had thought that those in the pics LSR showed were them.

nilkilla
The rarest will start with the 1st release "numbered" cars. but even rarer will be the Convertibles with the Shaker 1000s. I have on customer with one on order now, and Ford told me the hold has finally been lifted off of this option combination, so after waiting since june, my customer and I may see the light of day! I am willing to bet that a majority of thses cars were either cancelled or reordered back in october at the last push back and there will be very few. easy way to figure this is that I have only seen about 10% build for convertibles. then maybe 10% of coupes had shaker 1000, MAYBE...if there is a 1% build of T89s with Shaker 1000 package then I'd be surprised. GT06
Did you order the Nav in yours. Are you having fun waiting like me. The hold is killin me. I tried but my car was scheduled by the time I heard about the nav option. I was on the fence anyway; pretty expensive. I got single digit temps and snow covered roads so each day we wait is one day closer to Spring, but this waiting is getting old. Just remember, at least we're built, it's any day now. :banana piano:
