Unless your a Green person it doesn't make sense to me. Pay more for gas that gets you worse mileage. I doubt you get that much power gain. Unless you live in Corn Country I think the price is to high. thewheelman
We have 1 of 2 E85 stations in all of Kentucky in my town. I don't know many people who actually run E85, but everyone that I know, that has run it, has had problems when they refill with regular gas afterwards. Both Fords and Chevy's have had to have fuel filter replacements after running E85 and then switching back to regular gas. Don't know if it just stirs up sediment in tank or if it's the product quality here. The only reason we have an E85 outlet here is because we have a huge ethanol plant right on the edge of town--specifically for the production of E85....... The Edmunds article was very insightful! My esteemed $.02 worth!
70SCJ
Depending on what power level you are at with your stock system, an E85 system will need to have 30- 40% more capacity. You would be able to run more boost and timing than with regular 91-93 octane. Expect a drop in fuel mileage. I have heard it takes about a $.55-$.60 difference in the price of a gallon of gas to break even with E85, but you get a octane rating of 105. So if you compare it to race fuel its definitely an option. Here in my area E85 runs about $2 a gallon with 93 octane running about $2.90 so I am thinking about upgrading my fuel system and making the switch. For the price you can not beat it!
glroy
From what I have heard the bio diesel fuel makes the exhaust smell like french fries. if you run E85 does your exhaust smell like nachoes??

You can't just get a tune for it. You'd need to upgrade fuel pumps and injectors (really large injectors).

2kmelat
just remember the reason its so cheap is that our socialist goverment is using your tax dollar to keep the price down. It cost more to make then gas so they need gas to stay around 3$ to make this crap work.

Shelbyville
E86 is good only for running up the price of corn and exhausting the food supply. Really? The price of corn is less than ONE HALF what it was 2 years ago. Exhausting the food supply? You see a lot of skinny, hungry people running around where you are? Read the newspaper - the major food related story month after month is OBESITY.

INDYSHELBY
A big plus for ethanol if an ethanol plants has a big leak we can take our bottles down to the plant and collect it , drink it, not near as costly as whats going on in the gulf which we all are going to pay for through our government . So I would rather support ethanol ,US corn farmers ethanol plants which creates jobs in the US and money spent here in our country,

Maybe its diff for the 4.0 Chris That is not because you will somehow damage your Whipple by using E85. It is because your fuel system is not set up for the massive amount of E85 your system would have to deliver. There are companies making E85 tunes for GT500s, but it requires very signifigant fuel system changes to accomodate the additional quantity of E85 required. High HP E85 tunes will likely require switching over to e return-style fuel system, larger injectors, return-style pumps, regulator, etc. Dynotune Speed & Performance is one company offering E85 specific tunes for GT500s. Justin00Stang
Even on a stock car with no pulley upgrades its hard to get enough out of the fuel system to handle E85, its a 40% increase in fuel demand. You might be able to do it with a stock pulley but with a 2.6 its questionable.
